Location: Albany, NY Category: Promotional Posted On: Thu Jan 16 2025 Job Description: To assist the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics with the day-to-day management and administration with apparel and equipment. This role ensures the efficient, safe and sanitary management of a Division I athletic equipment department, facilitating optimal performance and compliance. Primary Responsibilities: + Oversee the collaboration with coaches to plan and prepare apparel ordering, embroidery, and distribution to all student-athletes. + Lead the administrative responsibilities that include but are not limited to: purchasing on-field equipment used for practice/competition and reconcile purchasing card. This position will oversee all equipment-related needs for multiple sports, including Fall and Spring sports. This will require consistent oversight of all equipment-related needs for in-season and out-of-season sports. + Manage student assistants and part-time staff to assist with all the laundry needs for every sport, ensuring staff can operate laundry equipment. + Oversee and manage the apparel/uniform inventories for each sport assigned to the position. Updating inventory spreadsheets, communicating orders to the Athletics Business Office, and meeting frequently with coaches. + Other reasonable duties as assigned, including some travel to away competitions. Functional and Supervisory Relationships: + Reports to: Senior Associate AD for Internal Operations + Supervises the following positions: Full-time Equipment Manager, Student assistants, part-time staff, volunteers Job Requirements: + Knowledge of all student-athlete safety and welfare items, especially concussion management. + Knowledge of NCAA and conference branding/logo policies and procedures. + Ability to work varying schedules (evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.). + Ability to travel. + Effective verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to work effectively in a team setting. + Ability to prioritize tasks. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree OR Associate's degree with 5 years of relevant experience from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. + A minimum of 3 years as an athletic equipment manager with collegiate experience or related professional experience. + Experience at a Division I institution. + Experience working with a collegiate or professional football team. + Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role. + Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community. Preferred Qualifications: + AEMA Certification + 5 years' experience as an athletic equipment manager with collegiate or related professional experience. Working Environment: + This job is physical in nature. The physical demands include moderate lifting, ability to lift and move boxes/containers filled with apparel, ability to work from multiple locations within the department depending on the activity. + Due to the travel requirements, equipment managers are sometimes required to perform their responsibilities at locales away from home (opposing teams' venue, hotel, bus, etc.). + Night and weekend work will be frequent.
