Summary:
In this role, you will have a leadership position in the estimating and pricing efforts for commercial relationships, overseeing the entire process from the identification of opportunities through to formal submission. The Director of Estimating role will lead all Analysts and Managers on the team to ensure overseeing proposal opportunities from inception to conclusion is achieved. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leadership, estimating techniques, pricing strategy, government contracting and/or commercial operations, and proposal development.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with Estimating & Pricing leadership to ensure the functional organization maintains an effective role in the organization. Discuss and examine policies and approaches to ensure the contribution of the Estimating & Pricing team to the overall entity is meaningful and significant. Collaborate with business development and project management teams to identify potential opportunities. Conduct thorough market research and analysis to understand the competitive landscape and pricing benchmarks. Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather relevant information for accurate pricing assessments. Develop and implement pricing strategies during the proposal development phases to provide accurate cost estimates. Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather detailed cost data and validate assumptions. Lead the pricing efforts for formal contract submissions, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and compliance. Collaborate with proposal teams to integrate pricing strategies seamlessly into overall proposals. Develop and implement estimating practices and methods utilizing the latest estimating tools and techniques. Conduct comprehensive reviews of pricing documents to identify and address any discrepancies or issues. Develop sophisticated cost models to support pricing strategies and provide insights into cost structures. Be prepared to lead discussions and negotiations with Customers related to proposal submissions from initial submission to final price negotiations. Conduct sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of various factors on pricing scenarios. Regularly update and maintain cost databases for future reference and continuous improvement. Stay current on contract requirements, and industry best practices related to pricing. Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with pricing strategies and proposals. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 10+ years of related experience. Complimentary degrees and relatable experience considered. Proven experience in contract pricing, with a focus on identification and formal submission phases. Understanding of Estimating Tools and Techniques (e.g., RS Means, WinEst). Ability to communicate complex pricing concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience concluding discussions with Customers such as Contract negotiations. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in cost modeling and financial analysis. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance. Exceptional organizational and project management skills. Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel, Pricing Software (e.g., ProPricer), and Estimating Tools (e.g., RS Means) is strongly desired.Disclaimer
