Since 1977, Sojourner Center has been a safe haven from domestic violence for women and their children in Arizona. Since our founding, we have transformed lives by providing shelter and support services to more than 60,000 adults and children affected by domestic violence. We provide a broad spectrum of services to victims of domestic violence, while working with professionals in the field on education, research and advocacy with the goal of ending domestic violence.

 

Job Summary:

The Director of Facilities & Operations is responsible for ensuring the daily operational departments are performing efficiently and effectively. As a member of the Executive Leadership team, the Director of Facilities & Operations oversees a range of internal organizational operations including facilities, food services departments, capital improvement projects, and special projects.

 

Schedule: Monday – Friday (May be required to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.)

 

Salary: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 Annually

 

Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction for the successful completion of projects and organization operations.Guide and oversee organizational departments, e.g., capital improvement projects, special projects, food services, and facilities.Develops and manages a detailed project schedule and work plan, including timeline, milestones, tasks assigned, and deadlines. Implements change when necessary to meet project goals.Manages contracts with vendors by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.Manages the relationship with community partners, vendors, and all stakeholders. Manages large and diverse teams and projects (simultaneously).Support budget planning and oversight based on the scope of work and resources available. Incorporate sustainability practices in facilities management, such as energy conservation, waste reduction, or other budget relieving initiatives.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including building codes, labor laws, and OSHA standards.Identify potential operational risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity and efficiency. Develop and implement safety protocols and emergency response plans. Oversee internal Risk & Safety Committee.Prepare for and respond to unexpected challenges or emergencies that may affect facilities or operations. Holds On-Call as assigned.Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: staff performance and development goals, assign key performance indicators, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals. Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departmental managers. Handles corrective action and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.Foster interdepartmental collaboration to ensure operational efficiencies align with broader organizational goals. Working in partnership with the executive team, create the strategic five-year plan and implement new processes and approaches to achieve.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Strong organizational, administrative, and financial management skills, with 3–5 years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit or small business. Proven track record in managing teams, overseeing budgeting, planning, and forecasting.Strong facilities management and project management skills with a proven track record of overseeing capital improvement projects and operational functions.First Aid and CPR certification.Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to Sojourner Center’s insurance company.·At least 21 years of age; ability to obtain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Physical Factors/Working Conditions:

Utilizes computer and standard office equipment.Has the potential to be exposed to infectious diseases and must use Universal Precautions.Has a risk of physical danger due to the nature of the population served.Holds on-call responsibility for residential programs and child development center.Some travel between work locations may be required.
