We’re looking for a hybrid Director of Finance in the retail industry.
Our client, a prominent leader in the retail space, is looking for an experienced Director of Finance to join their team in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial strategy, planning, and management of various retail operations. This exciting role will collaborate closely with company executives to ensure the financial stability and profitability of the retail business through effective financial planning, analysis, and management.
Director of Finance responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Leading and developing a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Executive partnership: collaborating with the executive leadership team on corporate strategy Financial Strategy & Planning: Designing and executing financial strategies and policies specific to the retail sector, driving overall business performance. Financial Reporting: Ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports for retail operations, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory standards. Inventory & Cost Management: Managing inventory levels and related costs, optimizing stock levels to avoid excess while supporting business needs. Store Performance Evaluation: Reviewing sales trends and store performance metrics to inform strategic decisions and optimize profitability. Vendor Relations: Managing relationships with suppliers and vendors, optimizing cost structures and payment terms.
The successful candidate has:
Proven track record in a finance leadership role (e.g., Controller or Director of Finance) Experience in retail is a plus. CPA designation with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience. Expertise in retail finance, accounting principles, financial analysis, and forecasting. Strong proficiency in financial management software and retail-specific tools, ERP implementation a plus Exceptional organizational and leadership capabilities, with a proven ability to build, manage, and motivate teams in a dynamic, fast-growing environment. Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making. A strong entrepreneurial spirit and drive to build incredible organizations
Compensation and benefits:
The discussed salary range is $130,000 – $150,000 depending on experience, plus bonus and LTIP Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered Comprehensive benefits package
