As a member of the Golf Operations team, the Director of Instruction will be required to meet and exceed guest demands with regard to all golf instruction conducted on property and assist golf operations staff as deemed necessary by the Director of Golf. The Director of Instruction is responsible for all facets of golf instruction that takes place on the property to include daily clinics, private instruction, junior golf programs, any golf team associated programs, and club fitting and general club repair. Additional requirements relating to leveraging industry contacts to grow membership, rounds of golf, group events and general resort awareness are also required.
Essential Functions:
Managerial Effectiveness Communicate effectively with the entire staff with regard to daily operations. Work with Director of Golf to communicate the goals and objectives of Nemacolin Incorporate safe work practices in job performance Communicate effectively and professionally with all departments Create a fun work environment. He/she will inspire, motivate, and lead by example Ensures proper functioning and availability of all video equipment and technology used by the teaching staff Customer Attraction Conducts private and group golf lessons, including clinics Organizes and coordinates the facility's instructional program utilizing the Nemacolin Golf Academy Develop and articulate a teaching philosophy that is in accord with all other resort standards Mentor and train golf associates ensuring that the teaching philosophy is consistent, specifically professional golf management interns Develops customized schools for members, daily visitors, and resort guests Maintains general appearance of Nemacolin Golf Academy, practice range tee, and storage areas Administer junior golf camps throughout the summer. Design lesson plans, train associates on the lesson plan, and create a pleasant environment for juniorsKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor's degree preferred Minimum of 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of years and experience. Class A member of the PGA/LPGA. Ability to promptly respond to inquiries or needs of staff members and guests. Ability to read budgets and interpret numbers. Must possess a valid driver's license. Ability to utilize various computer programs, including Microsoft Office product and Nemacolin computer systems Ability to read and speak English. Ability to work well under pressure and multitask Must be adaptive, flexible and empathetic Must be highly guest-oriented and responsive with a high need for closure and positive satisfaction Demonstrate initiative; ability to think, work and make independent decisions based on sound judgment. Strong team-building skills including ability to lead, cooperate, train, motivate, and contribute as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
