The Director of Homeless Supports is responsible for providing oversight to the Continuum of Care/ATARP contracts by offering support and stabilization services to individuals experiencing challenges related to homelessness, major mental illness and substance use. The Director of Homeless Supports will provide supervision to staff and develop staff skills related to homelessness, substance abuse, and trauma impacting ability to maintain stable, secure and independent housing. The overall goal is to assist people with finding and maintaining housing, obtaining benefits, including health insurance, and working on learning the skills to preserve independent housing.

Minimum Education Required High School Diploma/GED Responsibilities Organize staff and staffing functions to provide appropriate and efficient client contact, services and satisfaction.Manage, streamline or eliminate administrative processes and requirements in consultation with affiliated senior managers or designees including but not limited to Fiscal Services, Human Resources, Management Information Systems, Housing, and Maintenance functionsEnsure that staff receives appropriate certifications and training to perform duties adequately.Update HMIS and collect data at entry, annually and upon discharge from the program.Responsible for maintaining a full program census.Oversee program budgets and contracts, and anticipate the impact of changes on service deliveryProvide stabilization services during the transition period after move-in and ongoing assessment of need and support. Perform physical intervention in the event of a client crisis.Ensure renewal and adherence to licensure requirements and appropriate federal and state regulationsHire, train and directly supervise reporting staff and provide professional development through on-going training, supervision and staff meetings.Maintain relationships with service providers who may refer applicants as well as satisfy community care needs for individuals.Ensure that regular performance evaluations are conducted for all employees in programs as assigned.Participate in the on-call rotation through 24 hour availability for consultationMaintain constructive and productive internal and external communications with staff, managers, providers, vendors, and funding sources.Ensure health and safety of clients and staff through compliance with agency policies, OSHA and other safety standards.Ensure that the clinical integrity of client programs and services are maintained.Maintain records in accordance with grant requirements and agency standards and timelines. Attend trainings as assigned and maintain necessary certifications (CPR, First Aid, Safety Care, etc)Attend supervisions and staff meetings as assigned.Ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights policy and Advocates Way.Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.Strictly follow all agency Performance Standards.

 

Qualifications Significant experience or specialized skills with 10 years’ experience with low income housing system and homeless population.   Knowledge of housing assistance benefits and low income housing programs.Must have budget management and record keeping skills. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, the homeless, and community providers.Ability to work and negotiate with private landlords and real estate companies.Strong writing and organizational skills.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.Sensitivity to the needs of the population.Proficient computer knowledge including Excel and MS Word.Must hold a valid drivers’ license.  Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.
