Position Description:
The Director of Human Resources is a strategic and operational leader responsible for ensuring HR excellence, compliance, and efficiency across Harvard Law School. Reporting to and in collaboration with the HLS Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Director will take a leadership role in the planning and execution of key HR initiatives and operational functions that support the school community – specifically in the areas of talent development and training, HR programs and communications, compliance, HRIS, analytics, payroll, and student employment. Key areas and responsibilities for the Director include, but are not necessarily limited to:
Job Specific Responsibilities
As Director you will:
+ Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and implement the HR department strategic plan and align it with client needs. Represent the department on matters of significant impact.
+ Provide operational oversight for HR functions, ensuring efficient execution of HR strategies and initiatives.
+ Lead and mentor HR team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
+ Serve as a leader on the HR team to help develop clear and concise communication to all key stakeholders regarding HR programs, policies, processes, and initiatives.
+ Oversee the design and coordination of a wide variety of workforce programs and initiatives such as performance management, employee engagement, retention, rewards and recognition, training and development, employee wellness and work life, and, in partnership with Office of Equal Opportunity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
+ Ensure accurate and efficient administration of payroll, HRIS, and workforce analytics.
+ Oversee the creation of, and maintain, dynamic, real-time metrics and analytics for measuring the success of assigned projects.
+ Work collaboratively with the HR Business Partner team in support of the implementation of HR programs and initiatives. May assist in resolving complex employee relations matters.
+ Oversee student hiring and lead all matters related to HGSU contract.
+ Monitor and ensure compliance with labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, as well as institutional policies.
+ Refine HR policies and processes to address emerging business needs while ensuring compliance.
+ Provide key HR information to CHRO to support strategic decision making.
+ Manage the departmental budget and works closely with the CHRO on the annual budget submission.
