About Us Queens Community House (QCH) is one of New York City’s premiere social service organizations. We are a multi-site, multi-service settlement house serving the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. Summary of the Position QCH seeks an energetic, collegial, and hands-on leader to serve as its Director of Human Resources and Talent. As a member of the QCH Senior Management team, the Director will lead the HR and Talent Department of a dynamic, growing organization. The Director supervises five full-time staff and the Department supports QCH’s approximately 250 full-time and 250 part-time employees. The Director will be a key partner to QCH’s four Associate Executive Directors and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The position is on-site four days a week and can be remote one day a week if desired by Director. The ideal candidate: + Brings a successful track record of coaching and supporting supervisory staff. + Is a system builder who is comfortable with technology and has the skills to revamp and streamline the HR and Talent Department’s administrative processes. + Is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in all aspects of work and interactions + Has experience using data to examine trends, communicate findings, and recommend change as needed. + Embraces the important role the HR and Talent Department plays in partnership with programs and staff to advance the organization’s mission and vision. Ideally has familiarity with the requirements of one or more of our government-funded program areas such as school-aged childcare, high-school based programing, workforce development, and / or older adult services. + Has a collaborative spirit with high emotional intelligence to build meaningful relationships with direct reports and colleagues. + Strong knowledge of HR compliance and regulations, HR certification is a plus; + Advocates for and promotes QCH’s mission and vision, and acts as a champion for QCH’s wide range of services. Candidates with experience in program or operations leadership in a human services field will be considered if they have significant experience managing HR issues and talent processes such as hiring, progressive discipline, and performance management. These candidates should have a strong desire to build on their existing knowledge base and utilize internal and external resources to ensure success. Primary Responsibilities + Lead, manage and support five-member HR and Talent Department. + Work closely with QCH’s four Associate Executive Directors to support the particular needs of their divisions and staff with exemplary collaboration, innovative problem-solving, and consistent ongoing support. + Lead and collaborate with organizational leaders on recruiting and hiring, performance management, training and development, succession planning, compensation, benefits, payroll, and employee relations. + Ensure the HR and Talent Department operates with a DEI-centered approach and support the Executive Team in carrying out organizational DEI initiatives. + In support of and with the collaboration of the Executive Team, develop organizational policies and procedures that help staff adopt to new work processes. + Ensure adherence to legal standards; oversee compliance and in-house investigations. Compensation and Benefits The first-year salary range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000 plus a benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision offerings, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and a 403b plan.
