**Job Description:**
**POSITION DESCRIPTION:** The Director of Ignatian Service and Formation works closely with the Mission and Ministry team members and reports to the Dean of Mission and Ministry. The Director of Ignatian Service and Formation is responsible for the multifaceted faith formation needs of the student body in the area of service learning and Catholic social teaching. The Director of Ignatian Service and Formation’s primary focus is to develop and oversee the “programs through which students experience what it means to labor with and for others in building a more just world” (Standard 14: Our Way of Proceeding). The Director of Ignatian Service and Formation will continually seek out opportunities to help students engage more deeply in both service and reflection and will promote Fairfield Prep’s Jesuit Catholic mission and identity.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES:**
+ Lead, organize, form, and implement Fairfield Prep’s Ignatian Service Program (ISP) which is centered on a “faith that does justice”.
+ Communicate and collaborate actively with the Theology Department regarding the Ignatian Service Program requirements, including overseeing and tracking student service hours via the tracking software.
+ In consultation with the Dean of Mission and Ministry, develop and implement a formation program for students as it relates to our domestic and international service immersion experiences. Currently service immersion trips include the Urban Plunge, East LA, Camden, and Appalachia.
+ With the assistance from the Dean of Mission and Ministry, recruit and form adult leaders and facilitators for all our service immersion trips.
+ Serve as a leader on domestic and international immersion trips as needed.
+ Organize and form the school group for the _Ignatian Family Teach-In_ conference in Washington, D.C., which typically occurs in October each year.
+ Coordinate all service drives (food, clothing, etc.) held at Prep and work collaboratively with the advisory classroom teachers and the Assistant Deans of Students to accomplish the goals of each drive.
+ Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President for Communications and the Assistant Director of Digital Communications in maintaining and updating the Ignatian Service section of Fairfield Prep’s website, and ensuring that the Ignatian Service Program activities are well advertised in our publications and social media.
+ Collaborate as needed with members of the Mission and Ministry Team on all Ignatian mission planning, such as sacramental and retreat experiences.
+ Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to, preparing and overseeing department budgeting in consultation with the Dean of Mission and Ministry.
+ Is a visible and active ministry presence in all areas of school life.
+ Be prepared to teach a section of Theology as requested by the Principal.
+ Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Mission and Ministry.
**REQUIRED EDUCATION & SKILLS:**
+ Master’s degree in related field.
+ A deep understanding of Catholic social teaching and Ignatian principles.
+ Significant experience organizing and leading service/immersion programs for high school students and working with a campus ministry team is highly desirable.
+ Experience working in Jesuit education is preferred.
+ Experience teaching in the high school Theology classroom and leading retreat experiences is highly desirable.
+ Ability to multi-task and integrate technology into work flow.
+ Impeccable written and oral communication skills.
