Director of Imaging

SUMMARY

The Director of Imaging will oversee the success of multiple X-ray, MRI, and CT locations, ensuring that the sites achieve their operational and financial goals, provide high quality patient care, and remain compliant with healthcare regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic planning, analytical problem solving, business and financial acumen, and a thorough understanding of orthopedic clinical imaging practices.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

• Responsible for planning, prioritizing, and coordinating key operational processes and initiatives to enhance clinical efficiencies, quality, and scalability;

• Analyze data to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities in clinical imaging operations;

• Explore scalable, innovative solutions to solve clinical imaging operational challenges;

• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement in imaging services;

• Promote patient access through management of provider templates, rules, and preferences;

• Participate in the development and management of the imaging operations budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation;

• Develop and implement cost containment strategies, maintaining profitability and growth of assigned sites; 

• Responsible for profit and loss management of assigned sites, including optimal performance of Imaging operations to achieve or exceed budgets and KPIs;

• Utilize business intelligence tools, spreadsheets, and other forms of data to perform business analytics;

• Identify and implement technology solutions and processes to enhance imaging efficiency and the delivery of patient care;

• Identify opportunities for business development, procurement and purchasing of equipment,  and partnerships to promote imaging department growth;

• Maintain current knowledge regarding community and regional healthcare market and industry issues which may impact imaging business streams;

• Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and advancements to ensure the practice remains at the forefront of orthopaedic imaging;


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provide strategic direction and oversight for all imaging operations.

· Lead, mentor, and develop imaging managers and supervisors, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.

· Develop understanding of and ability to drive key performance indicators

· Ensure effective communication and collaboration among clinical and administrative teams.


QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Registered radiologic technologist (R.T.) preferred.

· Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

· Minimum of 7+ years of experience in clinical imaging management, preferably in an orthopedic or specialty care setting.

· Succent knowledge of healthcare and imaging regulations, and best practices in imaging operations, including billing practices.

· Strong financial acumen- experience with management of the P&L for imaging business.

· Highly analytical and a data-driven decision maker.

· Proven leadership and team management skills.

· Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

· Proficiency in business intelligence tools, Microsoft Excel, healthcare information systems and EHR.

· Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and financial performance.

· Strategic and critical thinking skills.

· Possess influential leadership skills.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and to talk and hear. Employee may be occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The work environment is typical of a physician’s practice. While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to risk of infectious diseases when interacting with patients and/or family members. The employee may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Schedule requires flexibility to occasionally include evenings, early mornings and weekends.
