Position Summary
The Director of Incentives and Compensation will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of incentive compensation programs, serving as the strategic compensation partner for the Life Insurance Business and supporting the executive compensation strategies to ensure they align with the company's business objectives and attract, retain, and motivate Kemper’s talent. This role will provide strategic guidance on incentive plan design and governance as well as executive pay programs and other executive benefits. The Director will also ensure that all compensation programs are compliant with regulations and competitive within the industry.
Position Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic advisor to the Life Insurance business leadership, HR, and business leaders on compensation-related issues, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and market competitiveness.Lead enterprise-wide compensation planning processes ensuring thoughtful, effective and efficient practices and procedures.Design and implement activity-based incentive plans throughout the organization that link employee behaviors to specific business outcomes and strategic objectives. These plans should drive performance improvements and align employee incentives with company goals. Work with leadership and cross-functional teams to define the key activities that will be rewarded and ensure these plans are measurable, scalable, and impactful.Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of activity-based incentive plans, ensuring they motivate the right behaviors and support overall business performance.Lead implementation, and administration of executive compensation programs, including base salary, short-term and long-term incentives, equity compensation, and executive benefits. Regularly benchmark executive pay against market data to ensure competitiveness.Prepare materials, presentations, and analysis for Senior Leaders and Compensation Committee and Board of Directors. Provide recommendations on executive compensation policies, trends, and regulatory compliance.Stay informed about industry trends and competitive compensation practices. Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to ensure compensation programs remain competitive and aligned with industry standards.In coordination with Legal and Finance, support the preparation and submission of the Proxy Statement including the compensation related disclosures and tables, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and accuracy in reporting executive compensation data.Work closely with senior leadership, legal, finance, and HR teams to ensure that compensation programs support business objectives and reflect company priorities. Partner with finance and accounting teams to manage the accounting and reporting of compensation programs. Initiate various analyses, projects and the design of new or special compensation programs to address market and business needsThe ideal candidate must also collaborate well with partners and demonstrate a passion for producing results and getting things done both efficiently and effectively. 8+ years of experience in consulting or compensation-related experience (incentive and executive compensation experience is preferred)Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Human Resources, or related discipline preferredStrong analytical decision-making skillsStrong communicator and adept at conveying technical compensation concepts in accessible ways that resonate across functions and levelsKnowledge of all federal, state, and local regulations and compliance requirements related to U.S. compensation standards and principlesThrives working in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing business needsAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritiesHigh amounts of intelligence and integrity.Advanced Excel skills preferredSponsorship is not accepted for this opportunityThe range for this position is $125,300 to $208,800. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
