Daikin Applied is seeking a talented Director of Infrastructure Platform Engineering. The Director of Infrastructure Platform will play a critical role in shaping the future of DAA’s Digital IT infrastructure and platform.  You will be responsible for driving innovation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable infrastructure solutions that support our products, business applications and services, and aligning with the organization's strategic goals. Location: Plymouth, MN - Hybrid

 

What you will do: 

Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the infrastructure platform engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, automation and excellence Platform Development: Lead the development and execution of the platform roadmap, working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable infrastructure solutions ensuring 99.999% critical system availability, integration, delivery and long-term maintenance Ensure introduction, management and performance of enterprise platforms like ERP, CRM, PLM, IoT etc. Develop and implement site reliability engineering: Oversee the design and deployment of infrastructure solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Automating repetitive tasks, implementing incident response processes, fostering a culture of blameless postmortems, and collaborating with development teams to proactively identify and mitigate potential system failures Develop and implement observability strategy: to ensure the robust and reliable monitoring and analysis of the organization's critical applications, infrastructure, and services. Establish capabilities to verify if the application is optimally performing, properly tuned, scalable per business demands Technical Excellence: Ensure the engineering team adheres to best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement Team Building: Recruit, onboard, and mentor top engineering talent, building a high-performing team capable of delivering world-class platform solutions Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and customer success, to ensure alignment on platform priorities and delivery schedules Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation and differentiation in our platform offerings Quality Assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable platform solutions, with a focus on customer satisfaction and business impact Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, managed services to ensure the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective digital infrastructure solutions Team Management: Manage, mentor, and develop the team, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their objectives

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field Relevant professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps, or other relevant certifications 12+ years of progressive IT infrastructure; software engineering, both technical depth and 8+ years in a dynamic infrastructure leadership role Proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams and delivering complex software products and automation framework Hands-on experience in building site reliability and observability practice grounds-up in an organization Strong technical expertise in software development, architecture, and design, with proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks Experience with platform engineering and infrastructure technologies, such as container orchestration (Kubernetes), cloud services (Azure), Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines Proficiency in observability tools (e.g. Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk) Strong customer/employee centric mindset and ability to empathize with end-user experience challenges Strong technical/strategic appetite to think about infrastructure as DEX, DUX and not be a legacy thinker Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, foster a culture of collaboration, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Ability to take charge and orchestrate work, facilitate decisions, and collaborate with broader leadership to drive the actions necessary to achieve desired results Ability to lead, collaborate, influence, and coordinate activities in a cross functional, team-oriented environment to deliver technology applications or technical products Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

Direct experience and/or oversight across these technologies or similar: ServiceNow, Windows OS, Cisco Network, Azure Cloud, M365 Experience in managing large-scale IT infrastructure environment Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies Experience in budget management and financial planning.

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $113,000 - $179,000 + bonus in MN. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
