Director of Iona University Pipe Band

The Director of the Iona University Pipe Band Director will teach, oversee, and direct the rehearsals and game day performances of the Pipe Band. The director will work in conjunction with the Director of Performing Arts and the student performers of the Iona Pipe Band to provide an entertaining and premier-level musical experience. Working as a Cohesive unit with the Director of Performing Arts to assist in recruitment of incoming students, and retention of current students, as well as direct management of the Iona University Pipe Band within the philosophy and guidelines set forth by Iona University.

* Please note: This is part-time stipend position (no benefits) with a term appointment for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year. The position is renewable annually pending a favorable review.

Primary Duties:               

Direct and teach the Pipe Band for all on-site and off-site performances. Including parades Ensure the band maintains 15+ members for all major events and parades Actively recruit new members, including high school outreach, campus events, and collaboration with Admissions and Performing Arts staff; Manage Pipe band appearance requests both on-campus and within the community; Schedule, organize, and conduct weekly practices and parade season schedule; The Director will serve as the primary point of contact for the Pipe Band  Assist with enrollment, engagement, and retention initiatives Plan, coordinate and schedule auditions to select new band members; Assist with the development, growth and utilization of the band budget  Facilitate successful purchase and instruction of new music Maintain instruments and equipment.

Additional Responsibilities:

Fundraise a designated amount to be budget sustaining; Work with the Director of Performing Arts to hire professionals (if necessary); Monitor and maintain student records in Gaels360 and respond to alerts and requests for information.
