Director of Labor Relations & Performance
Job Description The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person. The selected candidate will assist with various administrative tasks included but not limited to: - Serves as OCME liaison to the NYC Office of Labor Relations concerning contractual issues that may arise with OCME employees, including grievances and hearings. - Collaborates with DCAS and OLR to ensure accuracy and compliance in title specifications and proposals. - Aid in the writing of standard operating procedures as well as programmatic and agency policies. - Oversee classification projects, including editing agency-specific title specifications and coordinating with DCAS, while leading parity exercises. - Supervise the creation and implementation of training programs on labor relations, compliance, and performance management to align with agency policies and legal requirements. - Oversees labor relations for the agency, working directly with unions, management, and the Office of Labor Relations. - Monitor and ensure personnel compliance. - Oversee and participate in labor relations, aspects of employee relations and discipline, performance management, training, compliance, and classifications - Provide secondary oversight to all of Human Resources & Labor Relations - Oversee the creation of ad-hoc reports and special projects. - Performs other duties as required. Qualifications Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work. Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
