D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Director of Land for the Operations Department. The right candidate will Manage Land Department by overseeing quality acquisition opportunities to meet the business needs of the division. Ensure the due diligence process is completed within the contractual time frame, and all entitlements and approvals are secured.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Participate as a part of the senior management team to manage issues regarding land acquisition and land development Implement strategic policies for land objectives to maintain land and lots for forward planning Research, network, identify, evaluate, and secure land sites for residential development Negotiate the acquisition of properties with landowners, attorneys, or brokers Teach effective negotiation and acquisition techniques to Land Acquisition staff Assume ultimate responsibility for site appraisals and acquisition proposals Ensure active and quality communication is established and maintained with other internal departments regarding the status of future projects Interface with Land Department staff during due diligence to verify the checklist is completed from contract phase through post-closing phase Establish positive working relationships with government authorities, local agents, and land owners Promote best practices to secure entitlements and government approvals Verify due diligence process is progressing and will be completed on time Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company Able to travel overnight

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 2 or more employees in the Operations Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
