Director of Lifestyle

Note: This position is remote, but  you must reside in the state of Florida, Texas, or Iowa.

POSITION PURPOSE 

 

The Director of Lifestyle will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the lifestyle services offered by the organization across all communities. This role will be instrumental in ensuring that the organization delivers exceptional resident experiences that promote wellness, engagement, and a sense of community. This role will oversee the creation of enriching, personalized lifestyles for residents, ensuring a vibrant, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere where residents can thrive socially, mentally, and physically. The Director of Lifestyle works closely with all departments to promote resident satisfaction and ensure the seamless integration of lifestyle programs within the overall care and operations of the facility.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Overall, the Director of Lifestyle's responsibilities will be focused on the following: 

Strategy and Program Management:

Develop and implement a comprehensive lifestyle strategy that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and values. Oversee and manage the Facets®, Fitness, and Luminations®  programs to ensure they are tailored to the interests and needs of residents. Programs should foster physical, emotional, and social well-being and encourage meaningful engagement.

Resident Engagement & Satisfaction:

Ensure that the organization delivers exceptional resident experiences through its lifestyle services, including dining, wellness, activities, and social programs. Design experiences that are resident-centered and designed to promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, physical activity, and emotional wellness. Regularly assess resident satisfaction through survey and adjust as needed to meet their needs. Establish and maintain high standards for service quality and resident satisfaction.

Team Leadership & Staff Management:

Assist with recruiting, selecting, and developing highly skilled and motivated team of lifestyle professionals. Provide leadership and support community departments for programming needs. Provide training, mentorship, and support to ensure the team is engaged and properly equipped to offer exceptional programming.

Community Engagement & Partnerships:

Establish and maintain partnerships with local community organizations, entertainers, volunteers, and wellness providers to bring outside resources, talent, and activities into the community. Ensure field trips, special events, and community outreach programs are held in accordance to Grand Living standards at each community.

Event Planning & Coordination:

Assist with planning and organizing special events, including holiday celebrations, themed gatherings, and cultural activities that align with the interests of residents. Ensure events are inclusive and accessible to all residents.

Resident and Family Communication:

Keep residents and their families informed about upcoming activities, events, and programs through newsletters, bulletin boards, and one-on-one communications. Actively seek feedback from residents and families to ensure programs remain relevant and responsive. Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, and the community.

Health & Wellness Focus:

Incorporate wellness initiatives into lifestyle programming, such as exercise classes, nutrition programs, and mental health support, in collaboration with the health and wellness department. Promote holistic well-being in all activities.

Budget Management:

Manage the lifestyle program budget, ensuring cost-effective planning and resource allocation. Review expenses, negotiate contracts with vendors, and ensure adherence to financial guidelines while maintaining a high standard of program delivery.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure all lifestyle programs and activities comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Promote a safe and secure environment during all events and activities.

Continuous Improvement:

Continuously assess, evaluate, and improve the lifestyle programs to meet the evolving needs and interests of residents. Stay current on industry trends and innovative programming approaches in senior living.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or a related field, required. Ten (10) or more years of experience in a senior leadership role within the hospitality or senior living industry. Three (3) or more years of experience in leadership roles. Proven track record of success in managing lifestyle services in a luxury senior living environment. Strong understanding of the needs and challenges of aging populations, including those with physical, cognitive, or emotional impairments. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with residents, families, and staff effectively. Ability to create a warm, engaging, and inclusive environment that encourages resident participation. Experience managing budgets and resources, with a focus on cost-effectiveness without compromising quality. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. Passion for providing exceptional resident experiences and promoting wellness. 

Other:  

Master’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or a related field, preferred. Experience in programming for individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments. Knowledge of the latest trends in senior lifestyle and wellness programming. Experience with event planning, community outreach, or working with volunteers. Fully remote based in Florida or Texas. Ability to travel, occasionally extensively, to Grand Living communities.
