Job Summary:
The Director of Lift Maintenance will oversee the mechanical and electrical lift department staff, ropeway systems, and conveyors for Heavenly Mountain Resort. This position is a highly skilled person with experience in operating and maintaining all types of equipment in their areas of responsibility. They must be knowledgeable in all relevant rules and regulations. This position will also assist the VP of Mountain Operations with oversight of other departments within Mountain Operations when needed. Together with the Mountain Operations leadership team, this position will help ensure the overall success of Heavenly Resort.
Primary responsibility is to manage the team and collaborate with other resort teams with the goal of ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the lifts with an emphasis on proficiency, safety in the workplace, and leadership in all areas of lift maintenance and lift electrical. The candidate will be important in developing and maintaining a safe, inclusive work environment. Key aspects of this position include strategic planning, budgeting, training, and leading change.
Job Responsibilities:
To manage the safe and efficient day-to-day maintenance operations of Lifts and provide quality and reliable service, including construction as appropriate for new chairlift equipment. Responsible for assuring the lifts comply with California Tramway, USFS, and Vail Resorts rules and regulations. Responsible for developing annual operating and capital budgets for Lift Maintenance and Lift Electrical tracking expenses, and ensuring proper allocation of expenditures. Responsible for conduct, training, Lift Dept. Policies, Vail Resorts policies, and ensuring paperwork & procedures are completed promptly. Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of all lift maintenance personnel. Responsible for summer and winter preventive maintenance programs to include inspection of work performed to maximize lift safety and reliability. Ensure that all records required by Vail Resorts and the authorities having jurisdiction are maintained and kept up to date. This includes, but is not limited to, all electrical/mechanical and operational procedures, training records, as well as daily maintenance, operational logs, lift failures, and incidents. Contribute to enterprise maintenance function projects while developing the team at Heavenly to increase efficiency in our maintenance procedures by utilizing new tools/systems of operating.
Job Requirements:
High School education or equivalent 7 years of demonstrated management experience in lift maintenance, lift experience, or related technical or construction field. Leadership experience with process-oriented teams and ability to manage complex systems, along with strong financial management. 4 years of previous supervisory experience. Valid Driver’s License. Microsoft platform, Office suite Read, write, and speak English. Know and understand Lift Maintenance, Lift Electrical, Lift operations, and management skills. Know rules and regulations governing maintenance and ski/ride operations. Intermediate level skier/rider helpful.
The expected pay range is $110,400 - $122,000 + annual bonus + equity. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
