Job Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Marine Assurance to lead our safety and quality management systems across all Foss operations. This role is critical in fostering continuous improvement, enhancing marine assurance initiatives, and driving operational excellence across our fleet. The Director will work closely with operational leadership, regional managers, and key stakeholders to proactively mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will develop and execute long-term HSQE strategies, provide expert guidance on training and compliance, and champion a best-in-class safety culture. What the job entails: * Lead, support, and mentor the Marine Assurance team to achieve operational goals. * Develop and lead the strategic vision for marine assurance initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. * Collaborate with executive leadership, fleet operations, and safety teams to implement best practices in marine assurance. * Engage with crew, management, and leadership to implement effective safety and quality practices. * Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and improve safety outcomes. * Monitor and implement regulatory changes affecting marine operations and personnel. * Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions. * Oversee company audit functions and guide compliance with SIRE/OVID vetting and TMSA processes. * Be a leader for “SpeakUp”, including encouraging peers and staff to exhibit a safe and ethical culture and adherence to Foss policies. * Lead all employment-related functions, including recruitment, training, development, and performance evaluation. * Address training needs and foster employee development for maximum performance. What we are looking for: * Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field. * Minimum of 15 years of combined supervisory shore-side and/or seagoing experience as a vessel officer with strong knowledge of tugboats, deck barges, ship assist, and coastal/ocean towing operations. * Experience with International Safety Management (ISM) standards, marine investigations and root cause analysis techniques. * Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders. * Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Effective communicator, capable of translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable strategies. * Ability to manage complex projects and adapt to changing priorities.
