Mercury Systems seeks a Director to lead the Memory and Radiation Tolerant product line for its Data Management and Microelectronics (DMM) Line of Business (LoB). The successful candidate is a P&L-experienced senior leader of an integrated team who can define and lead the product line to deliver transformative business results in the design, build and delivery of defense-grade microelectronics. This senior leader will collaborate across functions, the LoB, the Business Unit, and the broader company to deliver technological advancements and product line growth by delivering leading microelectronics that are game changing to our nation’s defense.
Job Summary:
Mercury Systems’ is seeking an Memory and Radiation Tolerant product line Director to provide leadership across its DMM portfolio. The Memory and Radiation Tolerant Director role is a senior leadership position with high visibility all the way up to the Executive Leadership Team. This role has P&L responsibility and reports to the Vice President of the DMM LoB. The Memory and Radiation Tolerant Director is critical to the business and works both within the DMM LOB and through the PT BU while partnering across all functional teams spanning growth, product development, design, engineering, supply chain, production, finance, contracts, and sustainment.
The DMM LOB is a strategic growth area where Mercury is strongly positioned and there is more to accomplish to become the best performing team and company in the industry. The candidate will need to execute efforts flawlessly and is the focal point to grow the business. A strategic mindset coupled with the tactical acumen to drive program execution is critical for success. The Memory and Radiation Tolerant Director role is the focal point for the business, its leadership, and the customer base. As such, confidence, effective communication, self-motivation, accountability, and a positive drive are critical to manage the product portfolio into continued success.
Job Responsibility:
Responsibility for and ownership of the program lifecycle --- from the front end of the business, through development and into production. Responsible to grow the product line through expansion of existing business and through product development targeted at key growth markets. Products may be new designs, derivative products or custom applications tailored to meet strict customer requirements. Experience in new product introduction is critical, as is demonstrated experience in program management. Drive a high performing execution team focused on delivering to commitments. Accountable for execution performance – financial cost, technical, schedule, customer, and growth. Coaching, mentoring, and leading a team of direct reports consisting of product and program managers, as well a broader team of indirect reports functioning in a matrix work environment. Collaborate cross functionally with engineering, production, finance, human resources, contracts, quality, and customers on defining, developing, and maturing technology roadmaps to create viable new product introductions in memory, storage, and space. The candidate should possess an innate ability to balance both strategic thinking and driving day-to-day tactical actions. Work across the business, collaborating with Business Development, Engineering, Product Development, Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Contracts, Trade Compliance, and Mission Assurance. This role requires a team player who is focused on team success. Working both IN the team and ON the team will be a daily task. Work with Sales and Capture Leads to scope and bound new pursuits. Understand the business needs and market. requirements. May take lead role on capture and/or proposal efforts or serve as contributing team member. Create and coordinate Work Breakdown Structure, Integrated Master Schedule, and contract budget baseline and program financials; work with cross functional teams to develop overall execution schedule, risk strategies, and costs; work with Product Managers, Contracts, Engineering, Operations, SCM and the business to create product pricing and coordinate NRE estimates; manage the same. Identify out of scope activities and, with appropriate review by management, make recommendations and commitments to the customer. Negotiate additional charges, funding, and/or timeline impacts. Proven experience with customer relationship management. Exemplary interpersonal skills and achieving win/win outcomes. Work with Engineering and New Product Introduction teams to develop IRAD and proposals to ensure transition to programs is seamless. Demonstrated experience successfully managing risks and opportunities to achieve business objectives.Required Qualification:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or similar technical degree. 12+ years of experience in Aerospace and Defense industry. Experience managing across a heterogeneous portfolio of products and/or programs. Ability to travel 10% between sites and customer locations. This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. This role is based in the PHX office 100% onsite.Preferred Qualification:
Master’s degree in a technical field. 10+ years direct Program Management experience managing programs in an Aerospace and Defense industry (Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier). An ability to make business and technical trades and provide specific recommendations to senior management, partners, and the customer's business leaders. Strong team leadership skills in matrix management environment, driving accountability at all levels. Ability to convey information and ideas, including strong executive presence, communication, and presentation skills. Executive-level communications and presenting skills. Strategic thinker with capacity to manage business complexity and to identify and focus on top priorities. Knowledge of Military and Aerospace systems, secure processing architectures and solutions, as well as secure processing technologies for DoD development programs.
