In this role you will be a part of the infrastructure group in the Northeast market. We are an entrepreneurial, multidisciplinary firm of approximately 3,500 professionals across North America with a history of successfully delivering some of the most complex infrastructure projects across North America. We are currently looking to grow and enhance our transit, rail control systems, structural, roadway, and tunneling practices and are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Director MEP Services - Transportation to work in our New York City office.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
Responsible for meeting firms engineering quality levels for discipline on assigned projects. Oversees development of design concepts by Designers and ensure proper application and execution. Verifies work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings. Mentors and encourages development of staff. Responsible for applying firms risk management practices of project engineering. Leads the discipline design to produce construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget while minimizing erroneous efforts. Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering. Encourages collaboration to seek the best solutions. Front-end loads projects and apply best practices to set the proper direction of the project in SDs and DDs. Manages work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours. Writes studies and reports on projects. Executes complex designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination. Evaluates Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk. Edits and develops basis of design narratives documenting project scope. Meet with contractors during bid phase to review the design details. Prepare one-line diagrams. Maintain the discipline Engineering documents for the project. Respond to RFI’s for the project, and accurately review submittals. Solve installation problems with MEP systems, travel to the site to resolve issues. CAD proficient with working CAD drawings. Prepare CAD floor plans showing MEP layouts, including fixtures, equipment, etc. Perform calculations for available fault current study; implement proper AIC ratings of equipment, coordination studies, and arc flash analysis. Layout fire alarm devices on floor plans. Develop equipment room sizes during Schematic Design and Design Development phases. Select and schedule equipment. Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application. Coordinate with other disciplines (Signals, Arch, Struct, etc) for all electrical, lighting and MEP details. Manage and deliver revisions (ASI’s, etc). Understands specific requirements for applications within the Market Sector. Understands and properly applies details relevant to projects. Participate in strategy development with SVPs and other leaders. Identify and execute key department objectives in alignment with strategic goals. Develop, update and implements Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) for clients Manage risk mitigation on behalf of clients Direct and manage employees assigned to projects to ensure that project goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, budget parameters, defined scope and quality expectations. Monitor the activities of the project team to ensure project success through reviewing the processes, progress, and results of the following: client satisfaction, team effectiveness, employee development, financial goals, quality, and schedule. Identify and develop business opportunities by leveraging new and existing client relationships. Create or approve project proposals including scope narratives, cost estimates, schedule details, conditions, and clarifications. Review proposals from consultants for conformity to project requirements and determine acceptable fees for work. Ensure all appropriate licensing and contracts are in place, current, and in compliance for delivery of program requirements. Provide design, engineering, building code and zoning ordinance expertise. Provide EOR design and construction drawing capability.
What your experience looks like
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent commensurate work experience 10+ years of MEP and MTA and Rapid Transit experience MicroStation , AutoCAD and REVIT MEP proficient New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license required
The pay range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
