DIRECTOR OF MERCHANDISING
ABOUT YOU:
As the Director of Merchandising, you will be the driving force behind Jostens' merchandise function, overseeing product strategy across all categories. Your leadership will shape both short-term and long-term merchandising initiatives, ensuring alignment with Jostens' brand identity, key customers, and company financial objectives. You will spearhead product assortment strategies in an evolving omnichannel environment, optimizing both top-line sales and bottom-line profitability. Your ability to balance trend-driven innovation with data-backed decision-making will be critical to success.
YOU HAVE:
+ Extensive Merchandising Experience. 10+ years of experience in buying, planning, and merchandising at a multi-channel retailer, including a proven ability to drive category growth.
+ Leadership & Team Development. 3+ years of experience managing, mentoring, and developing teams, fostering an innovative and collaborative culture.
+ Strategic Vision & Execution. Expertise in strategic planning and performance monitoring, with a demonstrated track record of influencing change in complex organizations.
+ Sales & Customer Engagement. Prior hands-on experience collaborating with a sales force and integrating offline and online customer engagement strategies.
+ Omnichannel Business Acumen. Experience building and leading large-scale e-commerce and omnichannel businesses, leveraging data analytics to drive performance.
+ Analytical & Financial Expertise. Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze market trends, pricing strategies, and sales data to optimize product performance.
+ High Attention to Detail. Comfortable managing complex product assortments, pricing structures, and performance reporting.
+ Entrepreneurial Drive. A polished yet scrappy self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment while juggling multiple priorities.
+ Risk & Performance Management. Ability to anticipate, mitigate, and manage risk to both top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability.
+ Project Execution. Strong ability to manage aggressive project timelines and execute on strategic roadmaps.
YOU WILL:
+ Drive Strategy. Develop and implement product assortment strategies leveraging trend insights, consumer data, and analytics to maximize performance.
+ Optimize Product Offerings. Manage seasonal product planning, balancing internal manufacturing with product development for a comprehensive assortment.
+ Lead Pricing Strategy. Execute pricing strategies through competitive analysis, cost negotiations, and value engineering to drive profitability.
+ Enhance Digital Merchandising. Collaborate with the website business unit to create innovative site features, merchandising approaches, and buying strategies.
+ Lead Key Initiatives. Oversee the merchandising and buying strategy for Mascot Shop, Jostens’ custom school apparel platform, including product planning and supplier partnerships.
+ Expand Partnerships. Identify and engage new brand partners, collaborators, and suppliers to enhance assortment strategy.
+ Analyze & Optimize. Utilize data insights to evaluate product performance, adjusting strategies for strong and weak sellers.
+ Support Marketing & UX. Work cross-functionally to enhance product visibility and promotion strategies.
+ Lead & Develop a Team. Manage and mentor a team of three direct reports, fostering a high-performance and collaborative work environment.
+ Typical/expected % of overnight travel: 25%

Our Marketing team leverages digital marketing strategies and tactics focused on schools, independent sales reps, parents, and students to deliver the right message, to the right customer, at the right time. Team members will understand and leverage customer insights through data analysis & testing to then create experiences and relevant content throughout the customer journey and to support our specialized products lines including Yearbooks, Class Rings, Graduation Products, and Professional Sports. Through executing across a variety of consumer touchpoints on jostens.com, social, e-mail and print materials, the team collaborates with internal partners to create relevant and timely marketing campaigns to meet the needs of our customers.
