The Director of New Student Programs plays a leadership role in shaping the new student experience at Baruch College. Reporting directly to the Associate Provost for Learning & Student Success, the Director is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive transition and engagement programs for first year and transfer students. The Director will drive innovation in student programming, ensuring seamless integration into the academic and social fabric of the College. This role demands a dynamic individual capable of envisioning and realizing initiatives that foster student success and retention through critical transition periods. Responsibilities: + Develop and execute a long-term strategy for New Student Programs, aligning with the College's broader goals. + Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of key programs, including New Student Orientation, First Year Seminar (FYS 1000), Transfer Student Mentoring, Fall Student Convocation, and peer-to-peer education. + Elevate initiatives through innovative practices, technology, and assessment to enhance student engagement. + Direct the financial management of the department, including budget planning, allocation, and monitoring to ensure the effective use of resources in support of programmatic goals. + Develop strategies for financial sustainability and growth, including seeking external grant funding and partnerships. + Lead collaborative efforts with academic and administrative departments to support student transition and success. + Provide leadership and direction to a team of professionals and support staff, including an Associate Director, Assistant Director, Graduate Assistant, First Year Seminar instructors, and over 150 undergraduate peer mentors and orientation leaders, fostering an environment of professional growth, operational excellence, and high performance. + Utilize data-driven decision-making to evaluate program effectiveness and inform strategic direction. Implement best practices and adapt to emerging challenges to ensure the highest quality of student engagement. + Serve on college and university-wide committees and task forces, contributing to policy formulation and strategic initiatives that enhance the student experience. + Lead the First Year Seminar during the fall and/or spring semester. + Performs related duties as assigned. **QUALIFICATIONS** **------------ This position is open to CUNY employees only ------------------------** Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Doctorate degree in related field preferred. + Strong communication, interpersonal, budgeting, managerial, and administrative skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced complex environment. + Experience training and/or teaching in a college setting. + Familiarity with CUNY systems including CUNYfirst, Brightspace, and Navigate. + Experience with best practices and assessment in the field with an understanding of the role of student development in academic success. **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Directs curriculum development and operations of a College's specialized academic program under executive oversight. - Designs, implements and monitors a comprehensive academic program development plan - Administers all curricular, administrative, and financial aspects of the program - Oversees program evaluation efforts and creates strategic plan to further develop program offerings - Manages annual budget; develops proposals and other initiatives for expanded program support - Cultivates and maintains strategic partnerships; serves as primary liaison to faculty and administrators to plan and execute programming activities - May participate in faculty recruitment efforts - Manages professional and clerical staff - Performs related duties as assigned.
