This role coordinates, directs, implements, and recommends systems, methods, and procedures for the delivery of nursing care in the Bon Secours Charity Health System. Administrative supervision is exercised over several nursing units within the primary areas of responsibility. RESPONSIBILITIES: + Oversees and supports all administrative duties in the staffing office and ensures the office operates smoothly. + Coordinates all aspects of unit staffing, scheduling, and time & attendance reporting for GSH Clinical Units under the direction of the Staffing Office Supervisor. + Facilitates activities related to NYSDOH Clinical Staffing plan, collection of data and appropriate submissions. + Manages Kronos Dimensions and Advanced scheduling or other time and attendance. + Initiates and participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of quality assurance and performance improvement activities for primary areas. + Reviews and analyzes trends pertinent to the delivery of nursing care services within a primary area and initiates appropriate innovations. + Advocates for patients and families, acting as liaison with the multidisciplinary team. + Communicates clinical and resource issues to leadership. + Collaborates with hospital leadership in the development of a personnel and operational budget annually. + Monitors expenses and productivity, providing rationale and explanations for any variances. + Minimizes the use of overtime to meet the targeted budget and productivity goals. + Monitors the use of supplies and equipment. + Holds staff accountable for time/attendance and completes accurate payroll. + Provides coverage for Bedboard/Nursing Supervision as needed. + Completes requisitions for replacement of vacancies. + Observes, evaluates, coaches and mentors’ staff on the unit. + Ensures that the initial and annual staff competencies are completed in a timely manner. + Ensures staff maintain the required credentials for working on the unit (i.e., BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, and license). + Holds staff accountable for compliance with hospital policies and procedures. + Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of staff development activities. + Collaborates with the staff to develop and implement a quality plan for the unit. + Promotes infection control and safety practices. + Meets regulatory requirements (i.e., CMS, TJC, NY DOH). + Investigates and follows up with risk management/incident reports. + Assists in development of promotional events, community education and community outreach, screenings, etc. + Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: Experience: Work requires knowledge of operation of activities and services related to emergency and critical care services, professional level of knowledge in finance, budgeting, and planning, as well as demonstrated managerial and leadership ability, and excellent personnel management and communication skills at a level acquired during five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience preferably within Emergency Department Services. Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field; master's degree in Health Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA) or Nursing MSN required. Licenses / Certifications: Registered Nurse in the New York State, Certification through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or other appropriate organization within one year of employment.
