Avalon Care Center Bellingham is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with great leadership skills to join our team as a Director of Nursing in training The Director of Nursing in Training (DON-IT) is responsible for learning and developing the skills necessary to become a Director of Nursing. The DON-IT will work closely with the current director of nursing, other members of the management team, and members of the regional team to gain experience in all aspects of running a skilled nursing facility. Upon competition of the program, the DON-IT will be placed in a DON role. $50.00 - $60.00 /hr Full-time are eligible for: • 401K • Medical, Dental & Vision • FSA & Dependent Care FSA • Life Insurance • AD&D, Long Term Disability, Short Term Disability • Critical Illness, Accident, Hospital Indemnity • Legal Benefits, Identity Theft Protection • Pet Insurance and Auto/Home Insurance. **Placement within the wage range for this position is determined by years of experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions.** Responsibilities Complete the Director of Nursing in Training program and report routinely on the progress to preceptors and Chief Nursing Officer. Assist the DON to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall functions of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing long-term care facilities, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to the residents at all times. Qualifications Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State. BSN preferred. Must show ability to speak, read, and write in English, in a legible and understandable manner. Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations and guidelines governing long-term care. Positive attitude toward the elderly. Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other health care facility. Three years Long Term Care experience is ideal. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to learn and understand state and federal regulations related to skilled nursing facilities Ability to work flexible hours as needed Avalon Health Care Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer Must be willing to relocate within the state of Washington
