Director of Operations, Urgent Care

CHS operates 69 acute-care hospitals and more than 1,000 other sites of care, including physician practices, urgent care centers, freestanding emergency departments, occupational medicine clinics, imaging centers, cancer centers and ambulatory surgery centers. **Summary:** The Director Operations - Urgent Care has responsibility for overseeing the operations of the Company’s Urgent Care Segment for freestanding urgent care and on-demand centers. This position will report to the VP of Operations for Physician Practice Services but interact with all operational divisions and other corporate staff. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Responsible for developing and operating a company-wide standardized, scalable urgent care center model assisting the organization’s hospitals in expanding their primary care services with a consumer-friendly access point, facilitating network integration and gaining a competitive advantage in its markets. + Provide oversight to the operations of walk in, urgent care, and convenient care locations. + Operate and execute on the various strategies for urgent care centers within Community Health System markets. + Continually evaluate new ideas, new technology and solutions with the goal of enhancing quality, access, productivity and lowering healthcare costs. + Provide input on development of new Urgent Care Center + Interact with local teams and provide practice tactics and strategy. **Critical Success Attributes:** + Candidate must have demonstrated successful leadership in the operations and management of an urgent care center company. + Candidate must be comfortable and capable of working in a large, complex, and highly matrixed health care delivery system. + Candidate must demonstrate strong values, ethics and integrity. + Candidate must have experience in successfully working with physicians, payers and community leaders supporting the overall operation of the urgent care centers. + The candidate should possess a leadership style which is based on relationship building, influence, credibility, trust, education and respect – not on command and control. + The candidate should be a multi-dimensional thinker with the capacity to communicate, think, plan and act strategically without being locked into a traditional model of health care delivery; the orientation to analyze complex situations and work well with division leadership and multiple corporate departments. **Education and Experience:** + Bachelor’s Degree in job related field required; Master’s Degree prepared + Min. 7 years’ experience in Urgent Care setting with a min. 3 years of multiple site management experience in an urgent care company including development and operations. + Additional acute care network experience is preferred. + The ability to work, communicate, collaborate and coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders will be a key trait for the success of this individual. **Physical Demands:** In order to successfully perform this job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, the following are outlined below: + The Employee is required to read, review, prepare and analyze written data and figures, using a PC or similar, and should possess visual acuity. + The Employee may be required to occasionally climb, push, stand, walk, reach, grasp, kneel, stoop, and/or perform repetitive motions. + The Employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and; therefore, job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found within general office or administrative work.
