We are seeking a Director of Operations for our First Quality Tissue. This position will be responsible for leading and managing hourly and salaried production employees in a high volume tissue facility in Lock Haven, PA. First Quality manufactures ultra-premium tissue and towel products, with state of the art facilities. The Director of Operations should have a strong working knowledge of safety and environmental standards and embrace safety as a value, as well as demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate others and reinforce accountability.
Primary responsibilities include:
Responsible for the safety of all plant employees; including setting the vision and expectations, the implementation of corporate and business safety initiatives, the adherence to company safety expectations, and the development, execution and monitoring of plant specific safety plans and results. Instills and exemplifies an overall safety mindset for all team members.Ensuring production and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest costs, consistent with customer requirements, company plans and profit objectives.Consults with sales and product development resources, particularly on new or improved products, to ensure customer and consumer requirements are met or exceeded.Follows and insures compliance with applicable GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations/guidelines.Responsible for the financial performance of the plant (P&L responsibility).Responsible for the plant’s staffing, operational efficiency, maintenance and cost control measures.Reviews, documents, and implements operational best practices that manage costs consistently throughout the company.Accountable for capital project planning and implementation of approved projects.Developing innovative policies, methods and procedures that add value for the facility.Maximizes the use of existing operational software (SAP) by implementing processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.Develops, analyzes, and communicates operational metrics to quantify plant performance.Effectively communicate operating plans, performance goals and expectations to plant employees.Implements programs to ensure attainment of business plan through operational goals.Evaluate general and specific business conditions as they relate to operational issues, and keeps Senior Management team fully advised on these matters.Nurture the collaborative environment by promoting transparency and communicating positively and effectively.Accountable for effective management of human resources and physical plant assets.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Lead and manage direct reports including coaching, performance feedback and incentivesEnsures training, employee development, and work systems enable all employees to maximize their contribution to business success and contribute to productivity efforts.The ideal candidate should possess the following:
15+ years of experience in an Operations Management role within a manufacturing environment.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, MBA desired.Extensive engineering, operations, and advanced tissue making experience.Experience in warehouse management, center lining and with the development of SOP’s.High speed consumer product manufacturing a MUST.Experience with comprehensive safety management systems & quality management systems; fluent in environmental programs.Proven ability to lead and develop team members.Lean manufacturing knowledge; fluent in continuous improvement programs.Team player and ability to collaboratively lead and motivate teams.Ability to influence, interface and gain credibility across a wide range of levels.Understand and be able to interpret and analyze financial and operating.
