Director of Operations

Job Summary: The Director of Operations develops and directs project management operations and strategic planning to meet organizational goals. Provides overall strategic governance for projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools used for effective project delivery. The DOO establishes methodologies to set productivity and quality targets, assesses results for all projects, and responds to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions. Additionally, the DOO monitors and analyzes project metrics to identify weaknesses or problems and to propose operational improvements and cost savings for future projects. The DOO must be an excellent leader who is constantly seeking ways for the Company to be most efficient and effective in running Operations. The overall goal is to safeguard and augment the efficiency of the Company’s operations to facilitate accelerating development and long-term success of the Company.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains staff. Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct and oversee the daily functions of the technical operations team. Plan and monitor the day-to-day field operations to ensure smooth execution of our environmental consulting services in the office and field operations. Fluid, seamless daily execution of jobs from contract agreement to delivery of reports to customers. Maintain open communication with the project management team to provide the most efficient response time to deploy proper technicians, submit samples to the designated lab, and problem solve. Regularly evaluate the efficiency of operation procedures according to company objectives and create continuous process improvements. Oversee the client job delivery process and organize to enhance customer satisfaction. Develop and execute project specific and client driven goals, schedules, budgets, strategy, and detailed assumptions with methodology for accomplishing and/or managing goals and objectives. Establish and maintain project goals and success criteria that meet the client’s needs. Coordinate any necessary due diligence efforts on behalf of the internal team, project partners, clients and/or end users, maintaining and delivering all appropriate documentation. Act as the primary senior level contact with the client throughout the duration of the project. Develop and maintain Master Project Schedules and manage the successful execution of projects so that completion falls within intended timeframes. Facilitate initiation of all critical project meetings and coordination exercises with internal staff, key stakeholders, and external users to ensure responsibilities are efficiently, accurately, and effectively communicated and understood by all concerned. Identify, manage, and mitigate areas of concern regarding potential liabilities and risk (fee, our reputation, errors, and omissions, etc.) to executive management. Contribute where needed and/or in the refinement of best practices and standards of excellence for the business. Train and develop the project management team in skills and the understanding of company procedures, methodology and practices expected for successful project implementation. Ensures that Project Managers and Operations Support Teams are fully and accurately informed of all projects, internal and client issues affecting the perception of the local, national, and global reputation of the firm. Ensures all field data are collected by Project Managers for delivery to the Billing Team. Functions as a subject matter expert for a specific product or service. Able to communicate all available products and service offerings of the company. Responsible for continuous improvement in client satisfaction demonstrated by client survey results.

 

 

Required Experience & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree required in applicable field of study 10-15 years of Environmental Services experience in New York City Insurance/Claims industry experience is a plus 3-5 years management experience required Must have credible NYC Regional contacts for staff and clients Proven strategic planning, budgeting, process improvement experience Experience setting, monitoring, and meeting quarterly and annual goals Experience building and scaling teams and systems Use of Technology - Demonstrates required skills; adapts to new technologies; troubleshoots technological problems; uses technology to increase productivity; keeps technical skills up to date. Proven track record as a team leader with an understanding of management practices Demonstrated project management skills Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus in a high-pressure environment Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of project management software, including Salesforce Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Experience in (Salesforce & Teams, Adobe, Salesforce, Cloud based applications) required.
