We currently have an opportunity for a Director of Personal Lines to join the team. 

The Director of Personal Lines position is critical to the company’s ongoing success and efficiency in sales service, and marketing.  As the Director of Personal Lines, you’re responsible for the strategic oversight of product offerings, implementation, new business development support, account retention, and the successful mentoring and development of the staff.

Please come to your interview prepared to share your vision for the future of Personal Lines in the Mid-Atlantic region.  You will be expected to present a business plan that shows why are you interested in this role, what qualifications you bring, and your ideas for contributing to the success of the department.  This should include structural changes, process workflow changes, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

Work with the other members of Executive Management Team (EMT) and in conjunction with the Team Leads to develop a vision and growth plan, attain and drive profitability according to HUB MAT standards, and expand the departments capabilities.Promote interdepartmental resource sharing, identify cross selling opportunities, and capitalize on similar association marketing.Work with the PL Team Leads to coordinate client service needs and expectations between the service staff and producers.In conjunction with CMO, manage insurance carrier access, education, and support as needed, along with market relationship development to find new products and services for clients and prospects.In conjunction with COO, improve and streamline processes/workflows to drive retention and support new business.Build, drive and implement long term strategic and operational initiatives within MAT’s Private Client Group toward long-term top tier performance. Engage corporate resources to support the departments sales/service efforts.Support strategic planning initiatives.Develop comprehensive methods for complex strategic problems.Strategize with Team Leads to retain business year over year enhancing Value Proposition, Stewardship process and Account Management services.Positively and proactively represent HUB in meetings, seminars, and networking events.Maintain a deep knowledge of personal lines carrier’s product and service level differentiation.Interact with primary carrier partners in full coordination with the CMO and the CSO.Exercise expense control and maximize revenue and net operating income in compliance with corporate guidelines.Support the CSO in the continuous development of products and service offerings aligned with identified needs of customers in the market segments.Implement tactics to foster agility and adjust plans and objectives as needed.Champion the internal and external HUB “brand” and positioning.Help strengthen HUB Personal Lines Account Managers via personal recruiting, marketing and coaching.Foster collaboration, coach Team Leads and settle conflicts.Constantly build internal talent through continuous learning and high performing teams.Responsible for conducting business in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of both the business and earnings implications of the Company.Keep informed of changes and trends within the industry for the purpose of anticipation and responding to profit objectives.Foster an organization of continuous improvement.Attend and complete any training sessions or assignments as required.Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with co-workers, and every level of management.Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.Communicate complex messages clearly and credibly.Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.Other responsibilities and projects as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications:

Property and Casualty license10+ years’ insurance experience, specifically in Personal Lines, designations preferred10+ years’ experience in customer service within a business-to-business environmentProven leadership, mentoring, and team-building skillsSelf-sufficient and self-motivated with the ability to work independentlyBachelor’s degree in Business or similar equivalent experienceHigh energy, detail-oriented self-starterSignificant skill in handling competing demands and projectsCompetent use of standard office tools/software (e.g. MS Office) is also expectedExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilityStrong ability to listen, discern, prioritize, and negotiate with clients and insurance carrier representatives based on a deep understanding of relevant issuesAbility to evaluate and make decisions, recognize potential hazards and observe appropriate precautions, understand and remember detailed instructions

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 to $125,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
