4 Year Degree Serve as the Director of Photography Services for Purdue Athletics, impacting the visual brand of the Boilermakers and all sport programs on a daily basis. The position will function as primary photographer for the athletics department. Primary photographer for the athletics department, responsible for all studio and live event photography. Will also serve as a creative resource for the department to help position the Purdue visual brand at the forefront of industry trends. Travel as needed for football, men’s basketball and various postseason events. Work closely will all sports programs, external relations personnel and support staff for scheduling of head shots, team photos, recruiting visits, marketing and other photographic needs, as necessary. Cultivation and management of student intern and freelance photographer staff. Includes working with Strategic Communications, Creative Services, Marketing & Fan Experience and the John Purdue Club to ensure photo coverage for home and away athletic events, as well as development, marketing and other specialty events, as needed. Position will set benchmarks and style guides for student intern and freelance photographers that maintains consistency for the department. Serve as administrator of athletics photography photo storage, and will monitor photograph organization, key-wording and file sharing. Responsible for creation of online photo galleries following events, when necessary. Edit photography, as needed. Consult and contribute to social media projects and digital initiatives, as needed. Serve as contact for outside photo requests.
Bachelor’s Degree required. 5 years of experience required; 2 years of photography experience and an additional 3 years in the fields of photography, creative industry or applicable areas.
Must be able to encompass the strategic mission of Purdue University and Intercollegiate Athletics with tact and diplomacy, at all times. Strong interpersonal, creative, motivational and communication skills are essential. Excellent organizational, project management, problem-solving and customer service skills required. High attention to detail. Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels necessary. Must be able to effectively meet established deadlines in a timely manner. Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting athletic photography. Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite software, photo editing programs, professional photography equipment and studio lighting. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office recommended.Ability to communicate and adhere to University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Must be able to work nights, weekends and travel.
