**Description:** **J** **O** **B** **ANN** **O** **U** **N** **C** **EME** **N** **T** **DIRECTOR OF PLANNING, RESEARCH, AND DEVELOPMENT** **D** **EP** **A** **R** **T** **ME** **N** **T** **O** **F** **P** **L** **ANN** **I** **N** **G** **&** **D** **EVE** **LO** **P** **M** **E** **N** **T** **B** **u** **rea** **u** **o** **f Citywide Planning** **Systems Planning Division** **Number of Positions: 1** (additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) **Starting Salary: $118,128.00 – $133,524.00** **Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CST on 03/2/2025** Under direction, the class is managerial in nature, overseeing the operations of a division or section and directing professional staff engaged in researching and planning, and performs related duties as required. **ESSE** **N** **T** **IAL** **DU** **T** **I** **E** **S** + Establishes goals, objectives, and parameters for research and planning studies + Prioritizes and assigns work, establishes time lines and monitors the progress of data collection activities + Reviews data analysis ensuring completeness and integrity + Directs the preparation of programmatic and fiscal reports, plans, procedures, and protocols based on the analysis of data collected + Reviews and evaluates proposed federal and state legislation impacting on departmental programs and funding and prepares reports on the city’s position and recommended policy changes + Directs the identification of potential new funding sources and the completion of applications to obtain same + Provides testimony to legislative and other governmental task forces and committees involved in identifying and developing solutions to social, public health, economic or environmental concerns + Works with supervisors in establishing operating policies and procedures for the section + Participates in the preparation of the section’s budget + Trains and coordinates the training of professional staff + Develops and implements work standards and objectives and evaluates staff performance + Prepares management reports on section’s work accomplishments _A_ _dd_ _iti_ _ona_ _l_ _du_ _t_ _i_ _e_ _s_ _m_ _a_ _y_ _b_ _e_ _r_ _equ_ _i_ _r_ _e_ _d_ _fo_ _r_ _th_ _is_ _p_ _o_ _sit_ _i_ _o_ _n_ **Lo** **c** **a** **t** **i** **o** **n** **:** City Hall, 10th Floor **D** **ays** **:** Monday – Friday **H** **ou** **r** **s** **:** 9:00am – 5:00pm **T** **HIS** **P** **O** **S** **I** **T** **I** **O** **N** **I** **S** **EXEMPT FROM THE** **CAREER** **SE** **R** **V** **I** **C** **E** **Qualifications:** **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** + Nine (9) years of supervisory work experience in planning and public policy development **OR** + Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree in Planning, the Social Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS at least seven (7) years of supervisory work experience in planning and public policy development + Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, the Social Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS at least five (5) years of supervisory work experience in planningand public policy development **OR** + Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Planning, the Social Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS at least four (4) years of supervisory work experience in planning and public policy development **SELECTION REQUIREMENTS** This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a skills assessment as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected. **APPLICATION EVALUATION:** Initial evaluation will be based on the information provided on the application and the documents submitted.
