The Caterpillar Energy & Transportation Segment (E&T) has a broad portfolio of products and services which include engines, generator sets, industrial gas turbines and locomotives, along with other related equipment depending on the industry and application. We deliver these products and services to Cat machine, oil & gas, power generation, transportation and industrial customers. **Job Summary:** Caterpillar’s Energy & Transportation Division has an opening for a Director of Pricing. The Director of Pricing will manage a team of pricing leaders which provides professional guidance and expertise to key business partners. **What you will do:** + Development, Management, and pricing analysis efforts that support commercial offering activities including Bridge to grid, PPA, BOOT, and BOOM price generation, process improvements and pricing operations and strategy. + Consulting senior leaders on key pricing metrics including sales variance forecast, profit impact and proposed pricing actions. + Managing pricing input procedures and compliance while ensuring timely response to market business partners and market conditions. + Overseeing the end-to-end operation and administration of the competitive pricing system to include subcontractor price offering strategies. + Proven ability to interface at an investment banking level. + This role reports directly to the VP of Energy Systems for the Energy & Transportation segment. **What you will have:** **Customer Focus:** Experience or exposure to energy markets and understanding energy solutions. Level Extensive Experience: • Owns and oversees data gathering and analysis activities within the organization. • Documents sources and validates the accuracy of data analysis by evaluating the pros and cons of data analysis methods used. • Implements procedures and policies within a data processing function. • Teaches others how to improve the validity, contingency considerations, and reliability of data used in various analyses. • Evaluates best practices of data gathering and analysis within the industry. **Decision Making and Critical Thinking:** Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Level Expert: • Analyzes and discusses alternatives with multiple stakeholders. • Monitors developments in critical-thinking and decision-making models • Anticipates special issues and considerations for effective decision-making during a crisis. **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Level Expert: • Effective and influential communication skills; written and verbal. • Ensures important messages are clearly understood. **Negotiating:** Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner. Level Extensive Experience: • Successfully completes significant negotiations, both internal and external. • Details the risks of negotiation breakdown from each party's perspective. • Protects own position, while demonstrating willingness to achieve win-win. **Relationship Management:** Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers. Level Extensive Experience: • Communicates to clients regarding expectations of all parties. • Participates in negotiating the terms of the business relationship. • Maintains productive, long-term relationships with clients or vendors. **Strategic Thinking:** Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization. Level Extensive Experience: • Makes sound business decisions based on data and customer input. • Builds the strategic thinking capability of the group. • Builds project financial packages and solutions for our customers. • Recommends ways to position the organization for long-term competitiveness. **Value Selling:** Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
