Director of Pricing & Contracting for Medical and Public, Influenza and Covid Vaccines

Accountability & Scope:

This person is in charge of defining a clear market vision for the Medical and Public markets for Influenza and Covid Vaccines, recommending product price increase and GTNs, innovative contract platforms across medical segments to optimize short and long-term business objectives for Influenza and Covid franchises.

The candidate must have a strong understanding of the current and future pricing & contracting landscape and the inter-relationships to government pricing and medical reimbursement.

This person will be responsible for developing the pricing strategy from contract price, rebates, returns provisions and performance measurements for all products and will work in collaboration with Marketing to define all other terms and conditions (payment terms, returnability, cancellations, shipping terms and other contract clauses). This person will as well work to define recommendations on agents and distribution partners admin fee schedule.

This person will be responsible for evaluating the relative portfolios of Pasteur and the competition and making contract platform recommendations.

This person will develop the communication vehicles to define the pricing and contracting value for customers and will train the sales force on the contract platforms and the commercial offers once defined.

This person will make sure that all commercial offers that have been validated are adequately archived and communicated to the contracting team for implementation.

This includes making complex recommendations with imperfect information that involve substantial long term financial risk to the business.

This person will lead the medical and public segments and work closely with the Senior Director of Pricing and Contract Strategy Influenza and Covid to ensure all decisions are consistent with the strategy defined and to stay close to the implementation of the strategy on the Retail side.  This includes launching Covid and Influenza/Covid combos for the defined segments

This person will as well be in charge of pricing strategy definition for Pentacel, due to firewall with Vaxelis

Job Responsibilities:

Market Vision

This person will have a demonstrated ability to define the future landscape of pricing and contracting and develop recommendations to create competitive advantage and corporate growth.  This includes harnessing a strong view of customer behavior, medical reimbursement, cost containment methods, health value requirements, and competitive behavior. 

This person will lead the development of new contract platforms and the continued innovation of existing platforms to secure market growth.  This includes a strong knowledge of the product profile of existing and future products and competitive portfolios.   This person will have a strong knowledge of decision drivers at the customer level to innovate solutions that create a more competitive and customer focused approach while understanding internal constraints to implement those new contract platforms.

Platform leadership will include a clear view of cross-channel conflicts and the optimization of price risk across contract platforms.

Government Calculations & Pricing Controls

This person will actively manage the risk of private sector pricing decision impacting government pricing and ensure all risks are appropriately vetted in advance of decision making; to include clear trade-off analytics.

This person will lead the cross-functional execution of pricing activities and ensure compliance with all SOX, GAAP, and internal controls working with finance and contracting.  This includes strong over-sight into the forecasting of price and mix drivers in the financial plan and LRP.

Product Pricing Leadership

Work to determine the price sensitivity and develop optimization models and scenarios to maximize corporate objectives.

This person will lead cross functional efforts to drive pricing decisions with marketing, finance, legal and market access leaders and implement those decisions with contracting, finance and sales.

Skills & Competencies:

English fluent, both written and oral

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation skills. Significant experience making presentations to senior management is strongly desired

Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment of the pharmaceutical industry, demonstrated integrity on work-related compliance considerations and solid ethics

Entrepreneurial and team spirit and ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems

Requirements:

7 years of related experience

Demonstrated ability to influence at an executive level.

Demonstrated ability to make recommendations and align stakeholders on key decisions with imperfect information in compressed timeframes.

Must demonstrate ability to lead strategically, drive performance, build alignment, inform, negotiate and collaborate.

Working knowledge of medical reimbursement & health-economics preferred

Education:  B.A. or B.S.  Advanced Degree preferred.

Travel:  ~ 10%

This position will be based in Bridgewater, N.J. (moving in ‘25 to Morristown, N.J.)
