Job Description

The Director of Procurement will manage a team of 7 Buyers, overseeing the holistic procurement strategy and vision. This role involves providing mentorship, coaching, development opportunities, and overall leadership to the procurement team. The Director will be responsible for establishing, tracking, and holding team members accountable for departmental KPIs, increasing total gross profit across all categories, and directing inventory management and fulfillment at six successful business units around the Midwest.

ResponsibilitiesOversee holistic procurement strategy and visionProvide mentorship, coaching, development opportunities, and overall leadership to the procurement teamEstablish, track, and hold team members accountable for departmental KPIsIncrease total gross profit among all categoriesDirect inventory management and fulfillment at six successful business units around the MidwestReduce inventory shrink through process change and trainingImprove and maintain optimal inventory levels with your team to support on-time deliveriesGrow partnerships with existing produce suppliers, and continually evaluate new and qualified produce suppliersGrow specialty categories with marketing and sales support, and develop vendor relationships with specialty suppliers to support growth needsSupport in negotiating vendor contracts and critical business needsMaintain and improve the overall company supply chain, including the carrier network for inbound loads and inter-company shuttle needsSupport the quality assurance team and help to improve QA processes and procedures
Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with fresh/perishable productsFRESH FOODManagement experience with a focus on developing and mentoring teamsBS/BA degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of prior procurement experience2-3 years in a management role with a proven track record of developing employeesProduce and wholesale foods purchasing/procurementExperience in executing a purchasing strategy that has improved gross marginAbility to work well with both internal associates and external partnersStrong desire to learn new things and apply new skillsExcellent negotiation skillsWork Environment

This is an onsite position with working hours from Monday through Friday, either from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $150000.00
