The Director Product Marketing will drive the business by creating strategic product marketing plans for new and existing products, programs, and solutions, creating compelling product positioning and messaging and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure successful strategy execution. The ideal candidate will have strong product management experience, a deep understanding of customer segmentation, market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics. This individual will be a strong leader of people, have extensive experience in building stage-gate processes, and a well-developed ability to navigate a complex B2B business.
Major Responsibilities
Develop & Optimize Product Marketing Strategies: Leverage data, insights, and VOC (voice of customer) to establish and optimize go-to-market strategies and plans
Establish Compelling Product Positioning: Develop clear and compelling product positioning, including messaging that resonates with target audiences, create differentiated positioning strategies to establish our products as leaders in the market and drive sales.
Execute Go-to-Market Strategies: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute go-to-market plans for existing products & new product launches, work closely with sales, product, creative, and communication teams to ensure alignment and consistency of execution.
Lead Stage Gate Commercialization: Create and implement standard work to commercialize new products. Develop team’s capability to leverage tools
Identify Target Segments: Develop activation plans to activate against target segments
Create engaged team culture where team members can develop product marketing muscle
Is able to design and direct the work of the functional area. Sets objectives that align with the Generac strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development
Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
7+ years of experience in product management or product marketing in a large B2B company
4+ years of management-level experience
Preferred Job Requirements
MBA preferred
10+ years of experience in product management or product marketing in a large B2B company
Experience building local/regional marketing strategies
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Self-starter with an ability to handle a wide range of projects and work in a fast-paced collaborative environment
Ability to analyze and interpret data, solve practical problems, and make decisions based on customer insights
Comfortable interacting frequently with a wide range of sales partners, driving for results when consistent follow-up is required
Ability to collaborate closely cross-functionally, craft professional briefs, and serve as a translator on more technical concepts
Not afraid to roll up sleeves when required
Strong people-leadership skills
