Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit Position Summary Reporting to the Dean of the SOE, the Director of Professional Education Policy and Accountability oversees procedural and regulatory aspects of SOE and UNCG educator preparation programs to ensure such programs are (a) at the forefront of and in compliance with state and federal requirements for educator preparation; (b) at the forefront of and in compliance with state and federal assessment and accreditation requirements for educator preparation; and © updated on state and federal policy and legislation pertaining to educator preparation. In addition, this position serves as a liaison to UNC General Administration and NCDPI on issues related to educator preparation and the improvement of clinical practice and leads strategic initiatives and associated district partnerships. Minimum Qualifications An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in one of the disciplines in the SOE or a related field. Demonstrated record of working in K-12 schools or related education environments. Demonstrated experience with educator preparation programs within university settings. Demonstrated experience with educational assessment and accreditation A commitment to social justice and serving diverse communities. Demonstrated systems thinker and problem solver with excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills. Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications Successful experience in an academic administrative position. Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating educator preparation programs in a four-year institution of higher education. Experience leading accreditation processes for educator preparation programs. Experience leading partnership programs between school districts and universities. Experience securing grant funding supporting education programs. Experience managing grant-funded programs and associated budgets. Experience teaching at the university level. Percentage Of Time 30 Key Responsibility Serve as Co-Chair of the Collaborative for Educator Preparation (CEP) Essential Tasks Lead the CEP in developing innovative policies and practices that align with state and federal policies for educator preparation programs at UNCG. This requires maintaining current knowledge of state and federal policy and legislation regarding educator preparation, and guiding UNCG educator preparation programs in accordance with such policy. Lead the CEP in the planning of an assessment program to generate outcomes required by national and state accreditation of educator preparation programs. Percentage Of Time 15 Key Responsibility Serve as SOE liaison for state-level (e.g., NCDPI, UNCGA) initiatives Essential Tasks Serve as SOE liaison for state-level (e.g., NCDPI, UNCGA) initiatives for the improvement of clinical practice and associated district partnership activities. Serve as the SOE liaison to NCDPI and UNC General Administration (UNCGA) related to procedures and policies for educator preparation programs. Percentage Of Time 30 Key Responsibility Facilitate the implementation of a comprehensive assessment plan for UNCG educator preparation programs. Essential Tasks Facilitate the implementation of a comprehensive assessment plan for UNCG educator preparation programs to be at the forefront of meeting state and federal accountability requirements to include coordinating the implementation of edTPA and other assessments. Percentage Of Time 15 Key Responsibility Foster collaborative partnerships associated UNCG entities Essential Tasks Work collaboratively with associated UNCG entities to create and maintain required procedures, agreements, and documentation in support of teacher preparation, clinical practice, and associated internships and student teaching. Percentage Of Time 10 Key Responsibility Coordinate and facilitate professional development activities Essential Tasks Work collaboratively with deans, directors, department chairs, IPiE, and others to coordinate and facilitate professional development activities for professional education faculty, cooperating teachers/clinical supervisors, and partner district faculty as appropriate. (10%) Work with IPiE to ensure that partnerships are mutually beneficial to the continuous improvement of candidate preparation of professional educators at UNCG.
