**Job Overview**

**Position Summary**
The Director of Prospect Management and Research reports to the Vice President for Advancement and is an integral member of the University of Dubuque's Advancement team. This position applies creative research techniques to provide high-level description and analysis on individuals, corporations and foundations (including current and prospective donors, as well as extended individual and organizational relationships) using a wide variety of biographical, organizational, anecdotal and financial sources.
**Primary Responsibilities** **:**
+ Conducts in-depth prospect research for corporations, foundations, and individual gift prospects; analyzes, interprets, and evaluates biographical, business, personal, and financial information for current and prospective donors. Produces clear and concise research reports.
+ Prepares high quality profiles and strategic briefings on prospects and/or groups of prospects for Advancement staff and executive leadership, in advance of calls and events in order to obtain optimal outcomes.
+ Proactively reviews donor prospect assignments to ensure movement and solicitation strategy in relationship to capacity and affinity. Maps relationships between donors and prospects to help identify opportunities and build major gifts pipeline. Analyzes wealth screening data to identify new donor prospects.
+ Provides primary oversight and management of all prospects and moves management components of Jenzabar database. Works closely with the data team to maintain data integrity, constituent attribute coding and perform routine clean up. Generates analytical reports from the Jenzabar and creates custom reports to provide analysis and interpretation of portfolio performance.
+ Assist frontline fundraising staff in prioritizing prospect portfolios and encourage the timely review and assignment of newly identified prospects through regular one-on-one portfolio review meetings, and collaborative prospect strategy.
+ Monitors local, national, and business news and events for individual donor prospects and corporate and foundation prospects. Keeps up to date on regional and national business developments, economic news, and higher education trends.
+ Some evening and weekend work will be required in support of the Office of Advancement's outward facing role within the University.
+ Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's _Mission._
**Position Skills and Abilities** :
+ High degree of fluency in computer technologies, including proficiency with building Internet and web queries, manipulating, and retrieving data from complex database sources, managing news alerts and using electronic subscription services.
+ Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and database systems with an ability to also become comfortable quickly with the University's alumni and donor database, Jenzabar.
+ Familiarity with Wealth Engine, iWave and other resources available to prospect researchers and the ability to apply those resources in an organized and purposeful manner.
+ Understanding of local, regional and national philanthropic and business communities.
+ Exhibits strong customer service, organizational and time management skills.
+ Uphold the standards of the professional ethics and standards of the University along with the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) when dealing with highly confidential alumni, parent, student, family, donor and prospect information.
+ Must be a detail-oriented, self-starter with an ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities to meet timelines and deadlines and be dedicated to continual growth and learning.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree preferred.
+ Three to five years prior experience in prospect research, development, library research or information related field. Experience in a non-profit or higher education setting preferred.
