About the Role
Develop and maintain a relationship of trust and transparency with the AIA Group’s prudential and conduct regulators, with the following dimensions of impact:- Speak with a single voice, consistent and transparent
- Enable deliberate management of regulatory relationship at different levels - Leadership / working levels etc
- Foster credibility with regulators and reduce misunderstandings or inefficiencies
- Timely regulatory intelligence, guidance, measured feedback to regulatory consultations and input into strategy for the organization
- Ensure efficient information exchange with regulators
Roles and Responsibilities:
Manage AIA Group’s regulatory engagement
- Direct and manage regulatory engagement matters, and act as a key liaison with regulatory authorities and industry. Where necessary, involve subject matter experts for technical topics from relevant functions as well as senior management for strategic discussions as required
- Manage all regulatory engagements and correspondence, issues raised by regulator, tracking of regulatory actions
- Develop, implement, and maintain a protocol/standard governing Group regulatory communications, and ensure such communications are carried out under common protocol / standards across the group
- Group Regulatory Council: Establish a forum to discuss notable regulatory matters / developments across the Group for consistent and aligned messaging to the Group Supervisor and the local Supervisors
Regulatory Advice
- Involve in forums/discussions on future regulatory developments to ensure appropriate feedback, response to consultations and action plans are made
- Participate in AIA’s efforts to understand and assess the implications of new regulations upon its businesses, customers and products
- Monitor business impact of regulatory developments including tracking actions to implement new standards, etc
- Provide regulatory advice on group supervision, corporate governance and statutory reporting requirements under GWS
- Provide input on the AIA Strategic Plan on the regulatory developmen
Lead AIA’s preparation for the Group Supervisory College
- Coordinate logistics and related communication with Group regulators in organizing college
- Coordinate internally with various functions and executives who are involved / participate in the college activity, facilitate developing presentation materials
- Coordinate relevant information gathering with various business units
- Facilitate developing an appropriate response to any management letter from regulators and track action
Governance / Internal Reporting
- Escalate any identified issues to management on a timely basis
- Provide relevant reports to Management and Boards of AIA Co, AIA-I and AIA Group
- Facilitate compiling of relevant regulatory developments section in external communications such as ESG or annual report
Regulatory correspondence / routine management
- In accordance with regulatory engagement plan, manage and coordinate requests for meetings, process for exams or monitoring reviews conducted by the different regulatory authorities
- Coordinate responses to regulatory information requests and arrange meetings with AIA personnel
- Respond to periodic regulatory inquiries, submission of reports etc
Minimum Job Requirements:
Approximately 17+ years relevant experience, including experience in a senior leadership role.
Understanding of Insurance regulations (incl, preferable experience in Group wide supervision regulations)
Actuarial or Financial risk management or law (or accounting or similar disciplines)
Relevant financial services regulatory affairs experience in Asia
Strong leadership skills
Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
Excellent analytical, logical and organizational skills
Strong knowledge and experience in drafting and maintaining policies and procedures
Integrity, decisiveness and good judgment under pressure
Self-motivated and ability to motivate personnel
Ability to confront conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive and proactive manner
