Location District, Trinity River Department DT Institutional Research Job Summary Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Research, the Director of Research is responsible for supervising of a team of analysts, advanced data analysis in support of high priority district-wide projects, original research, presenting interpretation and results to high-stakes audiences, and managing the data request system. This position requires strong managerial skills in addition to mastery of data coding structures and conventions, complex methodologies for quantitative and qualitative analysis, and the use of multiple statistical software packages. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Essential Performance Requirements* Supervises analysts and ensures reports are timely, relevant, and accurate institutional information to internal and external audiences; ensures analysts’ efforts on long-term projects, advanced research, and forward-thinking ideas/processes align with the mission of the department Directs difficulty of incoming data projects, discerns time allotment, evaluates all for potential challenges, and proposes potential solutions to resolve challenges Works directly with Executive Director of Institutional Research on wide range of services/support efforts including special projects for the Cabinet Leads departmental leadership on potential definitions, measures, and process for efficiency and standardization of district-wide reports Utilizes advanced methodology including writing complex syntax, running simulations, and statistical modeling for predictive analytics Consults and collaborates with various departments on the design and analysis of quantitative/qualitative research projects, specific instruments of assessment, and the tailored measurement of performance outcomes Uses software packages (e.g. SPSS and Microsoft Excel) to prepare high-stakes reports and/or advanced reports including original research and presents results alongside departmental leadership at Cabinet and other high priority meetings Prepares reports, summarizing data, and analyses that present results in a clear and concise manner for multiple audiences, including the creation of clear and effective charts and tables through new and inventive data visualization techniques Maintains security of confidential student and employee information Helps fulfill research-related partnerships for the college through data sharing, consultation, and regulatory oversight


General Supervision and Management Provides leadership for a team of Research Analysts Providing direction, on-going monitoring, and support of long-term projects, advanced research, and forward-thinking ideas/processes
Service Excellence Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC) Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
SupervisionWorks under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Institutional Research

Required Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in math/statistics, computer science, social/behavioral sciences, higher education administration, or a related field Five (5) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements Three (3) years’ experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others) Preferred Qualifications Doctorate degree in math/statistics, computer science, social/behavioral sciences, higher education administration or a related field At least one (1) year’s working experience accessing data from multiple sources and merging them to perform analyses At least one (1) year’s working experience with external reporting and/or data collection agencies (e.g. Peterson’s, National Student Clearinghouse, CCSSE, SENSE, CBM state reporting, and IPEDS) At least one (1) contribution to scholarly works (e.g. presentations, publications, etc.) that demonstrates skill advancement and the learning of new technologies/methodologies Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of advanced research design and statistical techniques Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication Skilled in leading presentations to all levels of attendants, including executive and leadership by utilizing multiple forms of media and technology to communicate various types of information which may be technical or complex Skilled in using statistical software (SPSS/SAS/R) applications, computerized systems and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly and accurately in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied and unpredictable in scope and volume Ability to analyze data and so as to provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations while exhibiting strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
