DIRECTOR OF RESIDENCY PROGRAM Job Details Job Location Family Health Center of Harlem - New York, NY Position Type Full Time Education Level Graduate Degree Salary Range $223,000.00 - $260,000.00 Salary/year Travel Percentage Negligible Job Category Health Care Description Summary: The residency director implements the vision of a broad-based family medicine training program that meets the unique needs of a complex urban community. The residency director supports the mission of training the next generation of family physicians to reduce health disparities and promote diversity among faculty and residents, while providing the highest quality medical care. In this role, the residency director provides leadership for and overall management of the family medicine residency program, including the quality of the training program and the competency of the residents. She/he/they are responsible for development and ongoing evaluation of the residency curriculum, compliance with all regulatory requirements, supervision of residency training site operations, and supervision and professional development of faculty . The residency director approaches these roles and responsibilities in a manner that reflects clear understanding of and commitment to resident, faculty, and staff wellness, social justice, and anti-racism, and that balances management, training, and community goals. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Management Responsibilities: ▪ Establishes the mission and objectives of the residency program, as well as measures of effectiveness ▪ Directs the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all the clinical, training, and administrative activities of the residency program ▪ Develops and implements policies and procedures for the residency program + Manages the finances of the residency program with senior administration + Participates in Institute management meetings as assigned + Manages residency recruitment + Monitors residency, faculty, and program administration, including professional growth and development Teaching and Training: ▪ Precepts residents, medical students, and other health professional trainees as appropriate in the ambulatory and inpatient settings ▪ Contributes to the didactic curriculum with regular presentations at Grand Rounds and conferences Scholarly Activity: ▪ Contributes to the literature of Family Medicine with articles relevant to the work of the residency ▪ Supports the development of scholarly activity especially publications with all key faculty Participation in Leadership Roles in Professional Organizations: Actively participates at the regional and national level in relevant professional organizations such as STFM, AAFP, NYSAFP, AFMRD, and NAPCRG Clinical Responsibilities: ▪ Maintains an active medical practice of two 2 clinical sessions per week ▪ Demonstrates competency in following areas: neonate/infant; pediatrics; adolescent; adult; geriatric Professionalism: ▪ Maintains ethical practices in all aspects of professional life ▪ Engages in continuing medical education, fulfilling CME requirements as appropriate to maintain ABFM certification ▪ Complies with organizational policies and regulations. Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIRED : Graduate of an accredited medical school and an accredited family medicine residency program. EXPERIENCES AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED: ▪ Minimum of 3-5 years as faculty with progressive responsibilities in supervision and management, experience as an Associate/Assistant Program Director preferred ▪ Demonstration of scholarly activities with appropriate publications and regional or national presentations ▪ Experience with use of an Electronic Health Record in clinical practice and residency or medical student training ▪ Demonstration of good clinical skills ▪ Effective interpersonal, communication, organizational, and conflict management skills LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: NY State Medical License Family Medicine Board Certification Current BCLS Current DEA Certificate
