Director of Risk Management
Director of Risk Management Association Office Job Type Full-time Description $67,000-$70,000 Annually and a Free Family YMCA Membership Under the supervision of the Vice President of Risk Management (VP), ensures that YMCA properties, programs and activities are insured, risks are identified and well-managed, programs are conducted in a safe environment for all involved parties and that the YMCA is in compliance with related legal requirements. The Director of Risk Management will be responsible for the administration of the safety program and tracking of incident reporting as well as championing an organization-wide effort to protect the vital assets of the YMCA. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Manage existing association-wide risk management programs in various areas including: loss control, worker’s compensation, insurance, vehicle and driver safety, emergency procedures, and health and safety (including employee safety orientation and chemical hazard communication). · Monitor Association’s compliance with laws related to health and safety, and support the Association in developing related policies and procedures to ensure compliance. · Ensure facilities, vehicles and programs are inspected to identify potential hazards and exposures. Recommend practical solutions to appropriate staff, allowing for continued monitoring and improvement. · Provide training to staff and volunteers to help prevent losses, improve quality of programs and provide a safe environment for all involved parties. · Provides staff support to branch operations for existing risk management programs. · Participate in the Association safety committee. · Support the management of the Association’s insurance program, including annual renewal and claims. Support the relationships with various risk management and insurance consultants and vendors. Coordinate the process of applying for and renewing insurance coverage consistent with the risk financing goals and objectives of the organization. · In conjunction with Human Resources, administer the Association’s Worker’s Compensation program, including claims, return-to-work program, mandated reports, and loss prevention. · Manage the Association’s vehicle and driver’s safety programs. · Manage the YMCA emergency response programs and equipment. Maintain and track emergency response equipment and relationships with vendors. · Work with the VP to guide the Association in Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) program and facility compliance as it relates to constituents served and risk management. · Work with the VP to guide the Association in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for staff and facility compliance. · Assist in contract review (insurance complications), development of indemnity agreements, hold-harmless agreements and consent forms for the association. · Supervise department Administrative staff and delegate tasks as agreed by the VP. · Ensure all HIPAA policies are up to date and review them on an annual basis. Audit records, policies and procedures to identify any gaps. Build and document corrective action plans as needed. Confirm all staff who have access to PHI have been trained in HIPAA · Maintain all required certifications. · Attend all required meetings and training. · All other duties as assigned. Requirements · Bachelor’s degree preferred and 3-5 years of experience in risk management, insurance, YMCA operations or related field. · Skills in human relations, training, and business management, loss prevention, planning and organizing required. · Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software systems. · Must be highly attentive to detail and follow with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. · Excellent team builder and team player; ability to work self-directed. · Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills. · Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel site to site. · Completion of Certified Praesidium Guardian program or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire. · Completion of OSHA 10 hour training a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. · Must be able to stand or sit for the duration of the shift. · Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally. · Mobility within the building including movement from floor to floor and outside the building. · Must have the ability to travel from site to site.
