Opportunity Summary
The Director of Risk & Reliability will guide, shape, and manage NAES’ risk and reliability strategies, management systems and methods. Support plants including conventional gas and oil-fired boilers, combined cycle combustion turbines and steam turbine generators, simple cycle turbines, renewables and all associated balance of plant and electrical interconnect equipment.
Primary Duties
Manage a small group of operational and engineering resources that focuses on reliability and plant betterment projects Oversee NAES’ Corporate Reliability Management Systems and equipment reliability strategies Oversee the NAES’ corporate reliability programs including development and maintaining system RCMs, single point of failure analysis tools, critical spares approach, associated maintenance strategies Develop equipment monitoring strategies through critical operating parameters. Develop system and equipment performance strategies using statistical analysis methods Develop and oversee the management of change process Provide technical expertise and guidance in the resolution/prevention of equipment problems Lead or participate in plant Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) processes to ensure corrective actions, repairs or modifications are appropriate and timely in their execution Work closely with other O&M Directors, Vice Presidents and direct reports to ensure a total approach to reliability and risk management Work with Maintenance and Operations personnel to evaluate and resolve equipment issues Periodic maintenance and troubleshooting of the facility’s instrument & control equipment including the DCS, MKVe and other programmable logic controllers. Develop and manage tools and methods to ensure comprehensive power plant performance, support leadership with implementation of existing and new tools and methods. In particular create methods and standards to analyze, monitor and report plant and system performance and condition through assessing operational and maintenance data Responsible for troubleshooting plant issues, using technical knowledge in recommending course of action; aptitude for determining causes of failure Identify, evaluate and provide solutions to complex technical problems in a timely manner Write project scope and material specifications Provide budgetary support for assigned projects Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Asset OptimizationCompensation:
The initial range of compensation will be $190,000 to $225,000.
Working Relationships
The Director of Risk & Reliability reports to the Vice President of Asset Optimization and works with O&M Directors, Vice Presidents and direct reports.
Education and Experience
Education: A bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in operations, maintenance and/or engineering within a gas and oil-fired power plant or cogeneration facility. Years of Experience: 15 years of progressive work experience in electrical power generation or related fields Licenses/Certification: Certificate in reliability engineering or licensed PE (preferred)Specific Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of quality improvement and daily work programs Knowledge of reliability centered maintenance programs Knowledge of RCA (Root Cause Analysis) A technical knowledge of Power Plant Operations and Maintenance, performance calculations, and practices. General knowledge of DCS and plant protection schemes a plus. Strong computer skills to include spreadsheets, databases, word-processing and project software. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Able to communicate complex issues to management and peers clearly, concisely and accurately. Knowledge and experience performing statistical analysis. Strong engineering background preferred. Both field engineer and general plant engineering Safety oriented: Keeps safety in mind always – looks out for the safety of teammates and self. Able to understand complex contractual issues as they relate to plant Operations and Maintenance. Able to productively work independently and as an integral corporate staff team member. Capable of working independently with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a short time frame. Self-motivation and ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities. Able to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
This position will work remotely and will be expected to travel 50-60% of the time
Fit for Duty
