The role of the Director of Sales
To direct and oversee all group and travel industry sales activities for the Hotel and ensure that all activities and group bookings are focused to yield maximum revenue per room occupied. It is important that this individual be able to execute and effectively communicate strategies and tactics employed to all key stakeholders, including the sales team and Planning Committee members. This position requires results-oriented interaction with a wide variety of people. It is forward looking, broad in scope, and requires a pro-active mindset to get things done by harnessing all available resources, and seeking incremental resources where the anticipated ROI justifies such action. The position requires a sense of urgency, initiative and competitive drive to get things done by influencing others, delegating and building relationships. There are a wide variety of activities that allow for individual expression and freedom to take independent action. The position requires social poise, warmth and friendliness, as well as the ability to stimulate and motivate others in order to achieve the results necessary for success.
Focus Areas:
1. To uncover, prospect and sell group and individual business, in accordance with the objectives established in the Marketing Plan.
2. To monitor and motivate the sales activities and the sales team.
3. To ensure that all sales persons' quotas are met.
4. To ensure that sales activities, individual accounts and group bookings are focused and coordinated with transient demand to yield the maximum revenue per available room.
5. To maximize ancillary revenue sales connected to sales team bookings.
6. To implement and support all FS sales and marketing MOS.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the required language(s). (4) year college/university degree (or equivalent). 5+ Years Previous experience as a DOS or Sales Manager in a Hotel/Resort. Good personal & business reference
Working knowledge of computer spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (Word), and PowerPoint.
Occasional travel is required for training, conferences and special events.
