The Director of Sales is responsible for effectively driving business in all proactive segments. Oversees the day-to-day sales efforts and sales plans, directs all the sales activities as outlined in the annual marketing plan of the hotel.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Director of Sales are summarised below, the list is not exhaustive:
Develop, manage and maintain a proactive sales solicitation program, with a key focus on directing the luxury leisure segmentManage annual sales plan activity with measurable targets to achieve budgeted revenues in segments of responsibility Complete and keep updated, accurate Account Development PlanCarry out market penetration strategies with existing accounts to develop and further improve upon to a quantifiable targetProactively handle and actively supervise the management of respective vertical market segments to maximise revenue and market shareDevelop and maintain relationships with key clients, industry partners and stakeholdersRegularly contact existing accounts and contacts to drive businessEntertain clients including site inspections inside property, outside calls at their office, at outside venues, host FAM trips, etcRegularly attend trade shows and represent the hotel at industry related events as required. Domestic and international travel for business – valid passport requiredInvestigate new areas of business in terms of business development into new territories, and market segments, to quantifiable targetsInitiate and follow up on leads in a timely mannerMeet or exceed set revenue goals for the property’s proactive sales segmentsThrough the regular analysis of relevant reports, participate in the development of sales and marketing strategies of the managed segments Keep abreast of current and future competitors’ products, pricing and sales programs and deploy resources to efficiently optimize RevPAR and achieve/grow market positionParticipate in creation of the sales plan and budgetLogging of all calls and client information within the sales software toolAssist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments, i.e. parties, sales blitzes, etc.Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP’s, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to themDevelop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel and its’ policiesDeliver required reports in a timely mannerMonitor and develop employee performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, conducting counselling, evaluations, setting annual goals and delivering recognition and rewardBenefits
