Director of Sales & Marketing

The Director of Sales & Marketing is part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), leading commercial activities for STC’s Ceramics and Hermetics business lines. This position is responsible for developing tactical sales plans to drive profitable growth and is a key contributor to critical strategic planning. Based on these plans, specific market and key customer targets are set, and respective sales team members are supported to attain growth and profitability goals. Tracks key process indicators for each market segment and adjusts plans and tactics as needed. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities:** + **Strategy & Growth:** Develop a clear and actionable strategic value creation plan with goals and objectives and hold teams accountable for the plan. This will include building and implementing a vision and a set of values for the commercial team centered around achieving high-performance sustainable growth. + Lead participation in industry functions that create higher market awareness of the business and its products and services. Create sales strategies for entering new markets and expanding our current markets. + **Execution:** Monitors and evaluates product sales, competitor activity, and overall market conditions and reports findings. Analyzes industry and customer account trends and adapts the sales strategy as needed. Sets long and short-term goals, quotas, and budgets for all Sales team members, approves itineraries, trip, and expense reports. Partners with Senior Leadership to develop policies regarding contractual agreements, technical support and training. + Provides annual and rolling 12-month forecasts by business line, market segment, and with specific key customers with input from all Sales team members. Sets and monitors value-based pricing policies that maximize stakeholder returns while increasing market share. Works closely with finance and operations to ensure sales, OTD, quality, and accounts receivable targets are met. + **Team Management:** Build, manage, and maintain a top-performing team of sales and marketing professionals. Foster a high-performance sales culture, providing guidance on best practices, performance management, and skills development + **Customer Relationships:** Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers (80’s), both existing and targeted, in the segment. Ensure the segment team members maintain regular and appropriate cross-functional contact with key customers to identify, develop, and convert future business opportunities. + **Operational Excellence:** Effectively utilize critical operating model processes including; Daily Management, Annual Operating Planning, Goal Deployment, Organizational Talent Cycle, Monthly Business Review, Strategic Planning, and Continuous Improvement. + **80/20:** Drive the principles and use of the 80/20 tools through the market segment to provide the best return on invested resources and capital for the business. **Key Skills, Attributes, and Experience:** + Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. + 8 - 10 years of sales leadership experience with managing and using multiple channels to market including direct, distribution, and agents. + Decisive leadership experience driving high performing teams. Proven ability to lead an effective and sustainable business development process delivering profitable growth. + Expertise with CRM software and sales analytics tools. + Experience selling highly technical products and services is a plus. + Experience leading sales organizations in Aerospace/Defense, Semiconductor, or Medical markets is a plus. + Self-motivated, with excellent organizational, planning, and presentation skills. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including virtual business environments) **Job Requirements:** + Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders at all levels of corporate and company personnel. + The position is remote, however travel up to 50% domestic and international, may be required. + Work may involve standing and walking for moderate to lengthy periods of time, with some duties performed from a seated position. The workplace requires the ability to walk up and down stairs between offices and production floor. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods, and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work may include bending and squatting, as well as occasional lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
