Director of Simulation Operations

The Director of Simulation Operations is responsible for the overall management and coordination of BUCIES's daily operations. This role ensures the efficient delivery of simulation services, oversees administrative and operational functions and implements policies that support the center’s strategic objectives. The Director collaborates closely with the Director of Education to integrate relevant technologies into educational programs and supports the Executive Director in financial tracking, budgeting, and reporting.

Essential Functions:

Operational Management:
• Oversee daily operations of the simulation center, ensuring the smooth execution of all simulation activities.
• Maintain and manage simulation equipment, supplies, and facilities to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures aligned with accreditation standards and institutional goals.
• Coordinate scheduling of simulation activities, ensuring efficient use of resources and space.
• Integrate ethical standards into daily operations oversight.

Financial Management:
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop budget forecasts and identify cost-saving strategies.
• Manage operational and capital budgets for simulation operations.
• Track expenses, manage inventory, and ensure proper financial reporting to the Executive Director.

Technology Integration:
• Work with the Education Unit to integrate technologies into simulation-based education following best practices.
• Stay current with advancements in simulation technologies and recommend upgrades or new acquisitions.
• Ensure proper maintenance and operation of all simulation-related technology and equipment.

Staff Supervision and Development:
• Supervise simulation operations staff, including Simulation Technologists and Operations Specialists.
• Oversee operation staff training and performance evaluations.
• Create and implement effective and targeted professional development plans for operations staff.
• Promote professional development opportunities and foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Work closely with faculty, staff, and external partners to support simulation-based learning activities.
• Coordinate with the Director of Education to align simulation activities with curricular needs.
• Serve as part of the director team to liaise with external vendors, accrediting bodies, and community partners.

Safety and Risk Management:
• Establish protocols to ensure the safety of all participants and staff during simulation activities.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and implement corrective actions as needed.
