Director of Snow Sports & Head Men's & Women's Alpine Coach
Statement of the job: The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) seeks applicants to fill the position of Director of Snow Sports & Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Alpine teams. This dynamic leadership role is role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the competitive intercollegiate Snow Sports Program (Nordic, Snowboard/Freeride, and Alpine), which centers the student-athlete experience and supports the various identities that student-athletes hold. In addition to the administrative role, the successful candidate will also be the Head Men’s and Women’s Alpine Coach. The combined position will include development, training, and competitive performance. Additionally, this role combines strategic program management with hands-on coaching, ensuring athletes achieve their highest potential while fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and teamwork. This is a full-time, 10-month position. A typical season is August 15th through June 15th. Essential Duties: + Assures a positive and purposeful experience for the athletes, assures robust involvement, community engagement, and leadership development opportunities; assures these opportunities address diversity, equity, and engagement priorities. + Performs efficient, appropriate, and effective recruitment activities as well as appropriate use of resources and engagement for performance. + Conducts high-quality teaching in a humane learning environment. + Monitors and promotes the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. + Coordinates the team strength & conditioning/off-season training programs to minimize injury and maximize safe competitive performance. + Develops and manages program budget and scheduling within parameters. + Operates program in a manner consistent with NCAA, USCSA, and Division bylaws. + Develops and manages fundraising activities. + Develops and maintains alumni support for the program. + Supervises and works collaboratively with coaches in the Snow Sports Program. + Recruits and supervises student workers (manager/other support). + Collaborates with Admissions and part-time coaches to develop and implement an effective plan to realize sustained growth in Snow Sports participation. + Manages all logistics for all snow sports programs. + Collaborates with Sports Medicine, Athletics Communications, and Compliance staff for requirements related to clearance and eligibility. + Develops and maintains positive and productive relationships with community members, local, and regional ski organizations, and conferences. + Serves as liaison with area resorts/mountains. + Manages all aspects of leased UMF vehicle opportunities in collaboration with the athletic director. + Engages in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices. + Provides additional support in the following areas, including, but not limited to: + Strength and conditioning support + Admissions work + Athletic alumni relations/development + Out-of-season event management + Special events/projects/initiatives Note: UMF reserves the right to change or assign additional duties as necessary.
