ResponsibilitiesWe are hiring a highly experienced and effective software engineering people and organizational leader. This position will require the ability to lead in 2+ engineering product areas with a 1-5+ leader team. The person has strong leadership skills, situational awareness and is able to communicate to leaders and executives at any level of the Ascension organization. The leader will provide performance reviews, mentor, and effectively coach to affect professional growth in the team. This person will be expected to organize and oversee Capex and Opex budgets in her areas of ownership in addition to optimizing teams and processes for maximum efficiency. They will also be responsible for the overall health and viability of one or more technologies, owning the end to end technical landscape and vision for use of the technology in service to Ascension’s mission.
Responsibilities:
Software Delivery: Lead your Lean-Agile software engineering organization to deliver software efficiently and effectively that deliver OKRs in close alignment with the Product, Design and Research teams on implementation priority, and scope. Determine necessary headcount, skills, process flows, and structure to achieve current, future goals and OKRs while holding teams accountable to deliver on them. Influences outcomes on prioritized issues to identify solutions, action plans, and drive improvement.Leadership/Ownership: Drive or participate in strategic product vision, planning, process improvement projects. Integrate product vision into roadmaps. Lead the conversation internally about the direction of major areas (organization, tech, process), drive widespread consensus to the adoption of this direction, and use this direction to inspire engineers. Display an ownership mindset by being accountable for and beyond the features & products in areas of ownership. Participates in solution envisioning. Thought leader.Team/People Development: Manage healthy engineering vendor relationships and working partnerships across teams. Drive a culture of innovation, team work, accountability and ownership in all teams in your organization. Mentor leaders on your team, and create strategies for succession planning. Promote internal or external training sessions or lunch and learn meetings on applicable subject matter. Operations: Ensures that all teams in the domain are compliant on process and standards. Provide clear, concise and timely status updates and communication regarding product-level achievements and operations. Oversee and organize Capex and Opex budgets in areas of ownership.Recruiting: Communicates the awesomeness of Ascension externally via talks and blog posts. And, identifies areas that the team can share effectively with the outside world and guides the creation of content and communication around these areas. Determine necessary headcount/skills/structure to achieve current and future goals. Coordinate closely with vendors, and recruiting teams to implement hiring strategy. Recruit at a world-class level to attract top talent.Set the course: Is an expert in technologies within their area of accountability. Tracks product roadmaps for SaaS platforms, aligning software development tools with latest capabilities and ensures best practice standards are regularly updated. Provides subject matter expertise on technology mix and ensures the most effective tools are used to enable enterprise capabilities.Complexity of Work:
High level of leadership, critical thinking and clear communication abilities that provide significant direction to the performance of multiple product teams. Able to navigate stressful environments with emotional intelligence and lead organizational-scale efforts.Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferredWork experience: The position generally requires a minimum of 12 years of software engineering experience and 6-7 years leading teams to be effectiveKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The role requires significant leadership, project ownership, Lean-Agile experience, and complex, cross-team problem-solving ability.RequirementsEducation:
