Sterile Processing Director

In this role you will Advise/support all aspects of Reprocessing departments under their leadership, to include Surgical Processing departments (CS/SPD) as well as High Level Disinfection. You will be accountable for budgeting, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and related business operations to include revenues, inventory (instrument, scope) management and continuous improvement. 

 

A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am—4:30pm.  Must be flexible with working hours to address issues and potentially attend meetings outside of these specific working hours.

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Collaborate with surgical leadership to develop annual departmental strategic and operational plans. 

Assist in preparing annual budgets, reviewing staffing requirements and cost-effective programs for all services in areas of responsibility. 

Assure departmental quality standards are achieved and demonstrate accountability for improving services within the department. 

Provide measurements and feedback on improvement of systems and services to management and other internal customers.   

Work collaboratively with other team members to determine best practices and institute across the Enterprise. 

Supervise and mentors the management team that monitors and supervises the day-to-day operations of each local site. 

Assure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies, safety programs and customer service programs. 

Oversee the interface between sterile processing, surgery, and materials and other departments within and outside the organization to ensure that supplies and instruments are available as needed to all areas. 

Plan to ensure that any supplies or instrumentation not routinely available within the department are obtained and ready prior to scheduled surgery cases. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Bachelor's degree in Science, Nursing, Business, Logistics, or another similar area. 

Certification in Sterile Processing/Distribution CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) by the CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSP. 

5 years successful leadership experience in sterile processing and/or materials management areas. 

OR 10 years of SPD management level experience in a large hospital may substitute for Bachelor’s Degree requirement. 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Master’s degree. 

Progressive leadership experience to include at least two years at the manager level.
