The Director of Store Operations is responsible for leading and supporting assigned stores with a focus on three core pillars: service, quality, and community involvement. This role ensures profitability, consistency, and high performance by setting clear expectations to maintain exceptional operations standards. The director oversees retail store operations to optimize efficiency, achieve financial goals, and deliver outstanding customer service to internal and external customers. Additionally, the director fosters accountability, provides strategic direction, and supports store managers with a clear vision and defined objectives. This position is accountable for meeting organization goals, adhering to policies, managing store profit and loss, overseeing budgets, developing staff, and driving customer satisfaction while promoting a culture of excellence, service, and meaningful community engagement.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum 7-10 years experience in retail grocery operations.Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).Up to 60% in-state travel required.Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and drive operational performance.Strong understanding of P&L, inventory management, merchandising, and customer service.Proven track record of analyzing and leveraging data to recommend creative solutions.Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, often ambiguous environment.A curious mindset to ask the right questions and challenge status quo, always looking to explore new possibilities and seek new analytic approaches.Strong written, verbal and communication skills to inform the organization about new insights and recommendations that advance change.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software Responsibilities Drive sales, profitability, and cost management to exceed organizational goals.Provide leadership to the day-to-day operations for all stores, while maintaining focus on the company’s strategic goals including inventory management, budget, customer service and salesEnsure a customer centric culture that anticipates and adapts to evolving customer needs across all assigned stores.Cultivate a collaborative environment that attracts and retains top talent. Leverage succession planning tools to build a talent pipeline.Train, develop, and manage the performance of Store Managers to build high-performing teams.Analyze key metrics such as sales, costs, shrink, and trends; provide actionable insights and guidance to store managers.Implement and monitor store processes, including inventory management, receiving, ordering and physical inventory controls.Work cross-functionally and closely with key stakeholders and the senior leadership team to develop and execute strategies that are aligned with organizational goals and initiatives. Develop, manage, and optimize store budgets for payroll and expenses, ensuring accountability for financial performance.Identify and respond to trends and opportunities to improve operations and customer satisfaction.Conduct monthly reviews of key performance indicators and develop actionable plans for improvement.Partner with Sales and Merchandising team to ensure product and store allocations provides a cohesive strategy and brand experience, to drive sales revenue opportunities. Partner with Marketing team to plan and promote visual merchandising standards, retail signage and marketing effortsPractice the “Golden Rule” and work well with all associates as a team.Work in a style that is Respectful, Supportive, and Team-oriented (RSTO).Exercise expense control when incurring personal expenses, scheduling store visits and making effective use of these visits. Partner with Human Resources on employee relations, performance, and store safety issues.Conduct weekly store inspections.Ensure compliance with safety and security standards and handle emergency situations in partnership with Human Resources.Partner with Human Resources to create job descriptions, implement associate performance review parameters, and oversee employee training programs.Ensure appropriate staffing levels for business needs through external hiring and development of current associates with input from Human Resources.
