About the Role

The position fulfills the following objectives:
1. To develop a framework and the Group’s capabilities on risk management over the planning period (1-3 years), emerging (3-5 years) and longer-term emerging risks (5, 10 years +)
2. Group Risk Management accountability for the following risks within the Group’s taxonomy / risk landscape:
• Strategic Projects
• Reputation
• Emerging
• Policy
• Climate risks
3. Formalise risk management role and approach to strategic projects including M&A, bancassurance and other corporate development initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Develop playbook for Risk Management in M&A

Lead development of CRO opinion papers on strategic projects and annual business plans

Lead Group Risk & Compliance (R&C) involvement on strategic initiative projects, bringing in other risk & compliance experts as required. Presenting to Board and executive committees, if needed

Represent Group R&C on cross-functional strategic project groups; comprised of Strategy, Legal, Finance (includes Actuarial, Tax etc), IT and other functions depending on the project

Train R&C teams and enhance capabilities of relevant colleagues on areas described within position objectives

Enhance and subsequently maintain up-to-date risk register for horizon and emerging risks. Ensure risks are understood, controlled and monitored appropriately according to materiality.

Ownership of Group Office Corporate Insurances program

Support production of executive, Board and regulatory risk reports when required

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor or Master’s Degree

20 years’ plus experience in financial services, ideally insurance. Strategy, M&A and corporate development projects experience a must

Highly disciplined, detailed and broad thinker with excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills

Fluent in spoken and written English with ability to present articulately with appropriate level of gravitas
